Today on Bnet, we got a comic idea, of a way to see ourselves as heros. Cartoon characters or movie versions of fiction as a way to help us get to God? That in itself, I find troubling..because to believe it, first one needs to see it as it relates to Gods truth. It instead begins its basis on a myth. As a superhero, as a non entity, which we are asked to believe it can liken itself to our relationship with God. How can we do that, and still be required to see it as a unreal , untruth, joke? Maybe its me, but when I speak of God/Christ, I speak in the most sincere, sacred tones. Why would I need anyones example of Gods relationship to man, than His?
But even putting that aside, its the message that was stated that also can lead to more untruths.
Again, what exactly can I get from a fictional character, more than the truth of Christ? And as I read this persons point of view, regarding Batman and the dark knight I saw a few things that might lead us further away from who we are, than give us the facts of being more in line with the values and likeness of God.
First he proposes that we are all like Batman, in that we may do things that arent really within the law. But we do it anyway, because we believe we are on the side of right? That sounds more like a "green light" than a support of our better selves.
The dark knight implies he gives Batman his doubts. He also claims no rules to follow, and that those who believe "they must have rules" and that those of faith, or anything that would resemble a godlike path, are fools!
Bending the law, because one belives they are on the side of good? Belief in a god, is the fodder of fools? I cant see me anywhere, no matter how heroic Batman maybe?
And as CS LEWIS points out...What image do I need more, than that of Christ?
These are the myths of men, whose money is made not by telling us stories of God. But who perpetuate and mislead for entertainment value, rather than values themselves. The seek more to intregue, than enlighten, more to cover up, than uncover. There is not one Batman movie, who I would say, would lead me on a path to God!
Its just mans way of saying, Im alright, even if I dont do what is right all the time. Its ok, to bend the rules in my favor, if it all works out for the best, in the end. It's the old creative distruction theory, when Gods good needs no distructive force! Its the belief that man is controlled better through fear, than by love... Machevellian in its darkest knight! It allows man the out he needs, to say no matter what I do, its ok, as long as in the end, it works out for the best. Its the governments way, its not the Way of God. Its not the Christ being allowed to formuate your character. In its truth, its the avoidance of your best character.
Sorry but no comic strip, based on a fictional hero..can compare to the real Blood given by MY SAVIOR for my LIFE. I would never have found my Soul, by reading comic books or even watching movies...if the basis for them wasnt to link us OPENLY to THE VALUES AND PRINCIPLES THAT EXPRESS OUR SOUL.
Nothing that is based upon a joke, or a cartoon comic book character, will ever lead us to GOD, whose CHARACTER IS CHRISTS!
So whats the point? We should really ask ourselves...whats the point? Do I need another image that reflect more the undermining of the rules, or the breaking of laws, to reflect man? Is that how man is supposed to look more like Christ? Or is allowing ourselves to have less leadership by not needing to adhere to the rules, more the way of God, or of man?
Christ gave us His example to get to God..Batman? You make the comparison?
Batman, the dark knight or Christ? THe choice is yours, to take seriously or to by into the joke?
