There is a differece between doing a kindness , and your being good. A kindness can be done as a matter of ones ego. It can be judged on only the act itself. This very same person, behind closed doors, can be not as kind on those who may be living with him.
So therefore all the kindnesses, and good works done, are not always for the right reasons. Nor should good works alone, garner ones respect . Not everything a man does, that some call compassion, are given with no string attached. Strings, that wish to be called upon to be remembered. Meaning, not every good, is done for kindness alone. Much of what man does, is to highlight his own self importance. Its more ego, than goodness alone. How much good have you done, without some need, to be recognized, for doing good? Does that lesson the good that was done? Not to the reciever. Nor even to your Soul. Its recorded as a good, whether it was for your ego, or for the good of another. But it can be seen as a tainted good, from the standpoint of God.
All the kindness done in the world, can't produce a man of good character. For pure kindness can only be known by God and the one who took the action. Good Character, isnt a part time thing. Its who we are when no one is watching . It's being the best of who we are, always. Being good in ones character, is done for God, and no other!. And thats the difference! That same good, done for another, because we want to please GOD, is a GOOD, done for the right reason!
Even if it makes us feel good, when we do it. And we gain a small moment of feeling good, that good is recorded by God.
Feeling good, is always recorded by our Soul, however, we can feel good, when we buy something we've wanted. When we buy that big screen TV, or that new car. That too makes us feel good! But are those feelings, the urgings of our Soul? Is that the good, we say is of GOD? Both give us "good feelings". However, one is self gratification, more than the Souls urging for us to BE OUR HIGHEST GOOD? This is the reason why so many cant determine what is of the "self" and what isnt. One has the purpose given it by God, the other by the need to self gratify. Neither are bad, only one is truly in the likeness of Gods purpose.
When we want the goodness of God, to be His representative, we need to know the Way of Christ. We need to know the nature that invokes God, before self. We need to speak His truth, not the truth we prefer. To love Him above all others, we must begin by commiting ourselves to His Character, to the Nature of God, in man. We must strive to be, honest, in our dealings with others. To live with the purity of a good heart. To be faithful, to be a man of your word. To keep promises, or if you cant , than to remind yourself to never make them. To be trustworthy in all you do. There is a really big difference, between, the easy way out "just call me a Christian" and that of a devoted follower of Christ. Both are nothing more than the choices we choose to make. One satisfies the ego of man..the other longs SOULY to satisfy, ones God.
