As a child raised within the Church, my biggest regret then was, in finding out that those in postions of power in the church, were just men like me. Though some of these teachers were really living the lessons of Christ, many of them were learning those lessons as they were teaching them to others.
As I child, I wanted to love Christ so, that I was always looking for others who felt that same way. I believe I was truly blessed in that way, more with the friends who loved Him as well, than those who were attempting to practice what they preached.
Nothing suffered greater from the Churchs indiffernce to its believers, or the the imposed superiority of its priest. This superiority of postion, can be seen in many institutions, and walks of life, when those in charge forget their audience, is how they came into that position of power. Take away the audience, the people your position was supposed to serve, and you will have nothing but empty chairs with a room filled with, your own hot air.
Character was what I had been looking for. People whose character exemplified the person they claimed they loved. I found many people who loved me and loved others, but I found none in whose life, I could place all my trust. This was a good thing, because I found no love as great as His, no truthteller such as He, I then realized, I wanted no likeness of Christ, I wanted CHRIST HIMSELF!
And once that realization came, I no longer needed to look outward for what I now understood to be living within my Heart .
Its seems however, that my heart is not alone, when it comes to seeing a lack of character within institutions. We as a people have lost our sense of TRUST.
On our money it reads "In God We Trust", yet at every turn someone is seeking to get rid of Gods place in our society. How can we then place trust in a society that in essence wants the only truth teller, to be eliminated from the public square?
We have lost TRUST not in GOD, but in those who were meant to serve Him. We have lost trust, because more folks want to gain our trust, using half truths and lies to do so? And the core reason for our loss of trust, is that few in these positions of power, live what they preach. Its not a matter of how much money a person has, its HOW MUCH CHARACTER HE HAS! And its that lack of character that is the cause of all our mistrust!
This truth was expressed recently by Father Jonathan Morris. I believe him to be a man of God..not one tied more to his religion, but to the word of GOD....and thank God for those men whose life is more in practice, than in preaching. If you choose to listen?
