    "Occupy Wall Street Poem"

Thursday, October 6, 2011, 9:27 AM [The Body Politics]

Young and old shouting "greed's not good"

On the very Street where it moves the markets of the world.

They blame them for taking advantage of something, they themselves might, if they were in control.

They blame them for acting human, while expecting spirituality to be their MO

Asking others to be more responible, than we expect ourselves to be.

Pointing  fingers, while texting furious messages, on the very products in which that Street invests.

They yell at the Wall, as if pleading for God's help in Jerusalem.

Yet wont allow a prayer to be said in school, or God expressed

They ask for more of what others have, while blame others for wanting more!

Never asking from where, all these problems arise?

Never asking who allowed this to happen?

Instead,  take the word from the very folks who made it happen.

Never seeking to ask, why so many jobs have gone away?

They never seem to get their compass, to point in the right direction

They dont seem to look to its cause?

Instead, they place blame on the results, never once, asking how this was made?

They "ask not" why business left the Country?

Why we dont make things here, anymore?

We never once owned up, to our part of the problem.

Can we do something to help?

We never saw ourselves as consumers, wanting more fast food, rather  than cooking for oursevles.

We never once addressed our own elitist arrogance.

We never once, questioned why we prefer to see ourselves as "thinkers".

Why some of us think less, of those who work with their hands?

Workers, werent us, they were those whose jobs, went over seas!

We  expected more  things done for us, than we wanted to do for ourselves.

Our fingers were always facing outward..

Rarely did they look to ourselves, as a part of the cause!

We wanted others to do, what America thought herself too elite to do.

To educated, to work for less, too special, for menial jobs!

As if there is such a thing?

We jobed-out, what we used to job in.

We disrespected in a way, the very things we now cant do for ourselves.

In many ways, we have not claimed responsibility, for whats been done.

We have been a big part of the story.

The more "special", we saw ourselves become.

We allowed Washington to get rich on "special" interests... we gave them  permission to make laws,  outsourcing our core.

We can yell at those on Wall Steet, but we must take a little of its blame.

We didnt make the rules for Fanny and Freddy, but we did take advantage of its greedy game!

The cause didnt start on a Street named Wall

It lives on Main Street, as well.

It grows anywhere, where a mans higher values, don't prevail.

Where his desire for more, overrides his souls awareness of being fulfilled.

We can never rebuild a better America

If our fingers get tied up in placing blame.

Our hands werent made to be used for that reason...they were made for us to make things work..to be productive...to be, Self contained.
