I have received these scam letters for years. One was so good I almost thought it was for real. However I reported it to the F.B.I. and they informed me it too was a scam. As sad as it is to say, I no longer even open any emails that refer to Nigeria or South Africa. Indeed, any email that promises millions, I just delete. At first I told them to send the payment through paypal but SURPRISE, they never did. So I just delete them now. They're not worth my time. It surprises me how many still fall for the scam and some are extremely intelligent otherwise.

These scams are not uncommon on our private emails, I've received too many to count. But, in the past week I've received two friend requests (supposedly through BNET since they made that reference) but which came up on my email. They wanted my home email address (duh?) and other pertinent information concerning me. The letters were filled with loving phrases with the words God and prayers liberally interspersed throughout. I have deleted them at once since it seems evident these women (and mine have both been women) from (supposedly) a remote part of the world are part of an ongoing scam. Also, though both my BNET letters were from different names, the wording was the same.

Beware of scam!!! I just received an email message from someone on beliefnet using the name "patpatpat". She claims to have millions in a Liberian bank account owned by her late father who was killed. The email goes on to promise me 25% of the money if I would help her, and perhaps even claim to be her 'mother'. This is a scam of the highest degree. Please, everyone, if you receive an email such as this, report it to the bnet staff immediately as I did.
