Many people want so desperately to have answers to their questions, they will take whatever they can get to fill in the blanks. 

One result of this is  called "Religion". 

Despite a lingering cultural attachment to the Irish Catholicism of my family and childhood, I don't have much use for it - but I don't begrudge those who do, until it causes them to do things that inconvenience or annoy me.  Then, we have a problem.
