I believe that Jesus Christ was and is the Savior of the World.
I hope to help get that message out by:
1. Demonstrating an alternative to Christian idolatry of the Bible; i.e., the unfortunate practice of demanding strict interpretation of Holy Scripture that contradicts or undermines the Living Word of Jesus Christ.
2. Being a light that testifies to the fact that a firm commitment to peace, justice, compassion, and using your God-given brain goes hand in hand with faith in Christ - and vice-versa.
3. Opening minds to the Holy Spirit, which speaks to us through many spiritual traditions as well as through the scientific disciplines and biblical higher criticism. To oppose the message of the Holy Spirit in order to perpetuate outdated prejudices and fears is to prevent healing in a world that desperately needs it; or in Jesus' words, to: "blaspheme against the Holy Spirit." (Mark 3.29)
4. Helping bring the fundamentalist Left and the fundamentalist Right together, so that they can both see Jesus for who he was: the radical embodiment of Universal Love; more shockingly "liberal" than either side is willing to admit.
