Dear Heavenly Father,

Be with our children so special and dear

Hold them close so they know you’re near

Be with each, be with all

Help them get up when they fall

Refresh their thoughts and minds anew

Guide them each day as they look to you

Put a fire within their hearts

So from your way they never part

When the storms come and the winds blow

Shore up their foundation so they will know

Their Rock is firm, steady and strong

And unto you they will always belong

Tick tock…tick tock

Time keeps ticking on the clock

Hearts on earth thump to the beat

To and fro go busy feet

Off to work, the daily grind

 Many distractions fill the mind

Pleasure, excitement, food and fun

Why! There’s enough for everyone

We hurry, scurry, we toil and build

Yet the emptiness within is never filled

We dig and search, we seek and look

We read and study many a book

We fall in love, our hearts entwined

Raise a family, wine and dine

Hold our grandchildren in our arms

Delighting in all of their little charms

Tick tock…tick tock, time surely flies away

Life’s so sweet, too short they say

We grow old too soon, sad but true

And years gone past we cannot renew

The great beyond has a way of beckoning

As we draw closer to the day of reckoning

Take stock now, reach for the sky!

No time for sorrow, do not cry

God is near and to Him let’s draw

He melts hearts - his love to thaw

He gives hope where once was none

He has the answers! Face the sun!

Feel the warmth and light He brings!

Pray and worship – hearts now sing!

Christ has triumphed, there is much in store!

Time with him is forevermore!

Heaven – sure it’s up there, while hell’s down here

God knows on earth there’s much to fear

There is greed and killing, hate and war

And death continues knocking at the door

“Imagine” unifies us as we sing for peace

Soldiers fight and die for killing to cease 

We drown our worries, we try to hide

From everything happening in and outside

Where can we go - how do we escape

From dark and dangerous landscape?

The world - a hospital full of sick and their woes

With no power of themselves to fight off their foes

Though hell might be here, rejoice! Heaven is too!

And not so far away like I once knew

I’ve found an escape where I truly belong

For reassurance and peace all day long

Each morning a treasure lies waiting for me

So I awake joyful and rise eagerly

A book I can open and read with delight

About the God of superb love, beauty and might

It is at this sacred summit I can view eternity

And spend time with Heaven here close to me

The view is glorious, the cares are few

Time has erased pain and all is new

Here my life is not a story just about me

Each of us fit into His grand story perfectly

Knowing earth and its troubles are under His control

Brings peace to my mind and rest to my soul

I dwell here mornings with light beaming in

Far removed from this world and the ways of sin

My mind is transformed and my heart does swell

It is here in God’s storybook that I am refreshed so well

Our wonderful home on Mother Earth

We live, we touch, we see, we feel

A natural journey since our birth

From her springs our every meal

Eons past, words of power spoken

Into existence Earth became

Serving us as a grandeur token

For faith in the power of God’s name

Mother Earth, our visible foundation

Yet there is another we cannot see

The rock of our salvation strong

Designed to set human spirits free

God exists, our heavenly Father cares

Of this truth like a handle take hold

Never let go, put your trust in Him

He will enclose you within His fold

Life is worth living! Yes, indeed!

We are loved by Him who counts!

Jump in, get wet, drink abundantly!

The Rock of Ages shares His fount!

The unseen city a foundation firm

Ever more real than Mother Earth

A heavenly city designed by God

From which springs our eternal birth!

Each day I must come to grips

With me, myself and I

For I am just a nobody

And so many are better than I

This stick figure made of dust

Who dreams of better days

As night closes in and all is dark

 I loathe my selfish ways

If I could pull this old heart out

And replace it with the best

A true heart with not a blemish

Oh to be so perfectly dressed!

Then I wouldn’t have one regret

Or hurt those so very dear

But here I sit in the pit again

Tormented with guilt and fear

I can’t believe that I’m allowed

To walk upon this earth

To feel the warmth of the sun

And breathe sweet air since birth

Amazed and thankful for each day

As morning light sheds abroad

Another chance to begin anew

Another twenty-four hours from God

My only hope is Christ alone

Oh to be so delivered from myself!

That’s why I must believe in Him

Or completely hang it up on the shelf

So I get down on my knees each day

This nobody I call me

And hope and pray to God up there

For the mercy to be set free
