To Martin Luther King

My Dear Brother, Martin: 

I have missed you, and I am looking forward to seeing you when I get home.  As you probably already know, a lot of changes have occurred since you moved to Heaven.    I just wanted to drop you a line, and tell you how grateful I am for all that you have done for the African-American people and for our nation.   Isn’t this a proud day, Martin.  I can see your big wide smile as I write to you.  Imagine… you were actually a prophet and a modern day Moses…… and your “I have a Dream” has actually materialized in America.

Do you remember how we sang, “We Shall Overcome”?  God chose you, Martin, and He has now honored your sacrifice.  We celebrate you today, Martin, because you had the courage to stand as a man, rather than adhere to being labeled a boy. You knew the dangers you faced, but you did not shrink from your duty and your calling…. I try very hard to follow in your footsteps, and the footsteps of our Lord.  I will never forget when you told us, even if we were street sweepers that we should be the very best street sweeper.  Following your advice has opened doors for me I actually never dreamed possible.  You were an excellent friend, Martin, and again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Tomorrow a Black man will move to the White House…. but you and I know that all earthly homes are temporary.  I have being praying for him, as I prayed for you.  I shall forever be very proud of both of you.   Give my best regards to our family, Martin, and I will see you when I get home.  With all my love,

The House that Jack Built

One day a very young boy went to his Father and said, "Father, I truly love you and I want to do something very special for you."  The Father looked down at this precious child and said to him, "Well son, perhaps you might start by allowing me to build your character, your spirit, your faith, so that your inner man grows very strong and in this I may be very proud of you indeed."  The young boy said,  "Oh yes, Father.... I want to give all that I am that you may be pleased with me.... and Jack obeyed his Father.... and indeed, Jack's first house was built.

As Jack grew older, the Father was very pleased with Jack's efforts, his diligence, but He was most impressed with Jack's love for Him.  He smiled, and said to Himself, I think it is time to prepare Jack for the building of another house.

One day, the Father called Jack to His side and said, " Son, you have been a very obedient and loving son, and I dearly love you."  Would you like to do something awesome and great?  The son, now older and wiser, replied, "Oh yes, Father.... I want to give all that I am that You may be very pleased with me.  The Father looked at His son, and then to Jesus and said, "It is time that I send you to the world that you may spread the gospel and follow in the footprints of your older brother and your Lord.  You will touch many lives, my son, and many will brought to the knowledge of Me.  You will assist in saving many lives that they may come and live with us forever."  You will encounter hardships, and you will encounter many difficulties, but I will be with you."  Are you willing, my son?  Jack once again replied, only with a mature and deeper sense of love and gratitude,  "Father, I am willing to do anything and all that you ask of me, without measure, or complaint, knowing that You through Your Holy Spirit will be my strength and be my guide.  I am humbled, and both willing and honored.  Please show me all that I must do that I may give glory and honor to YOUR NAME and that you may be pleased with me."

Thus, with the help of the Father, Jack built the second house known as

The Church on the Way

Dear Pastor Jack, precious child of God, may God forever smile upon you.  Please keep building houses; with the help of our Savior and your help, mine is STILL under construction!
