This is another way to send up prayer, it should be something families do together in the morning and at dinner, but most days in many homes we no longer eat together, an many times prayer goes up only at the thanksgiving and the christmas meals. BUT THERE IS AN OLD SAYING THE FAMILY THAT PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER. Many kids eat breakfast at school many parents go to mickey dees or thru fast food lines eating while driving and forgetting to pray. Kids often do not wish to pray in front of thier classmates sitting down to eat at breakfast an lunch while in school. My mother would often when we were grown an all on jobs would sit pray for all of her kids meals when she sat down to eat or was taken out to lunch or to dinner. That shows how important she thought this was she an a younger sibling had an appendix rupture during a time before the freshness of foods and other contamination might occur today we read food labels we know nothing about but we all eat it. BUT this is a way of acknowleding GOD for the food we are about to eat. SHOWS OUR THANKS FOR HIS PROVIDING US THE FOOD, WE could have been born in a country where we would be searching for food, we get to go to grocery stores and restaurants, but GOD PROVIDES the sun the rain, many of us have never grown even a vegetable or milked a cow or plucked a chicken. In this financial situation many are dependent on food banks food stamps etc. AS A VOLUNTEER I donated time bagging the food an other food staples provided at one of these food banks ,an the women in charge mentioned foreseeing a loss of considerable donations seeing how great the need was. she suggested putting dried beans in jars. This summer there have been droughts in some areas and floods, the harvests will be impacted. MANY Times its migrants who work the fields consider our immigration laws suggested changes. Can you pledge to bow your head before to acknowledge HIM before eating? BIBLE tells us to humble ourselves before the might throne of GOD. MAYBE you can pray for others who forget to pray, or refuse to pray standing in the gap why not even for your kids. MY MOTHER has passed on now but this was a memory I DISCUSSED at her WAKE.
