Hi, I just signed on also. Of course, I know your not kidding when you said "your bod has a mind of it's own once you turn 50". I find it so difficult to lose weight in this stage of life. What would be a help to you? I need a cheering section to help keep the motivation up over the long haul. As it can be said in "Tush Land", I am behind you all the way. irene |

Hi Mandi It is not easy to find a support system here on b'net when it comes to weight loss. People sign on and just as quickly they part ways. How much do you want to lose? I have a serious chunk of weigh to drop. Right now, my concern is the first 20lbs than I'll continue from there to set futhur goals. I'll be more than happy to cheer you on too. irene |

Irene, I need to lose about 300lbs all together. I'm setting small goals at first and then working my way down the scale that way. I was 480lbs. I am down to 447lbs. I very much want to lose the weight and be healthy. I hate being this overweight. I have many health problems and want to change that. Hope to get to know you better and cheer each other on. ~ Manid ~

Hi MANID, I know it is a tough trip to get the weight off and then maintain. I've gone down this path so many times. Has your weight always been as issue? Mine has. How hard was it to lose the weight that you lost thus far and how long have you maintained the loss? Keep it off at any cost. Otherwise, we are always going two steps forward then two steps back and ending up at the same place all over again, and again. one day at a time, irene |

Irene, I had lost 53lbs and had maintained it for over a year. THen recently been having lots of problems and gained the 17 back. My weight has always been an issue. I've been morbidly obsese since I was 5 years old. It was never "treated" when I was a child so I've only gotten bigger and bigger ever since. I find it very hard to keep the weight off that I lose. I have what they call the "binge eating disorder" so when I get into binge mode I don't care about the weight I've lost of keeping healthy or anything. I can only think about binging. What part do you find the hardest about losing weight and maintaining?

It is so hard to stay consistant day after day. I gain it back as quickly as I drop it and I am going to get a handle on that come what may. "Binge eating disorder" I think that pretty much can be said about most people who are over weight. Unless, I am missing the point some how.Love to hear you out if, you want to explain it furthur. It's as though one need "not take any responsible for their own behavior. It such a self-defeating label. Being out of control and learning how to take control is the challenge. How did you spend your week-end? I went to the casino and my husband and I enjoyed a few drinks together while making Chinse food. We love hanging out together and cooking. irene

"binge eating disorder" Yes most overweight people can fall into that category. It mainly diagnosed by the fact wehn you binge (which maybe days at a time) you consume more than 1500 calories at a time. Also when you aren't binging, you don't eat. At all. I don't know if that helps. I always yo-yo. I hate it. And normally when I gain it back I gain more than I lost to begin with. So this time since I'm still down poundage and it's been over a year is an amazing thing. It's so ahrd to battle the food addition thing. Most addicts of other things stop partaking in that area and therefore that helps them quit. We as food addicts can't do that. We have to eat to survive. I also feel I don't have control over it. I want my control back!!! This weekend I spent at home resting, been having headaches. Hopefully they will stop and i can enjoy the coming week. ~ Mandi ~

Hi Ladies. Irene, do you still go to the JOWL forum? Did it switch over with this new format? Hi Mandi. Just popped in when the group popped back on my page. I started the new year tracking my eating habits and making better choices. I lost a couple of pounds and then I just quit doing it. I need a kick in the tush too. |
