There are some localities passing laws against chaining (tethering) dogs or limiting the amount of time they can be tied up.  Check out www.dogsdeservebetter.org, it is an organization dedicated to rescuing chained animals. They find them new homes or sometimes assist with fence to help current owners.  I am lucky enough to have a large fenced yard so my  pound puppies can run and play plus I take 2 of them for a daily walk, the 3rd can't go, she had surgery to repair torn knee ligament.

I have always adopted or rescued dogs & cats. Pure breeds can certainly be beautiful but I love my mixtures.... they are SO interesting.

I didn't realize it 11 yrs ago when I bought my beautigful pedigree Siberian Husky puppy that I should have bought a mixed breed at the "pound."  I saw a TV ad saying that when you buy a pedigree, you essentially are also having a dog in the pound euthanized because there are so many unadopted puppies.  If I ever get another dog, I will NOT promote the breeding pedigrees.  It's just like peolpe having too many children when there are many children needing to be adopted that have already been born.  Would they euthanize them?  One wonders.

Laughing

Yesterday I took my dogs to the vet. Misty was due for her booster and heartworm. Jewels gets separation anxiety when she is seprated from Misty. We took Jewel for the ride as well.

When I was at the vet I checked out all the animals for sale. There were kittens for sale. One came up to the window and seemed interested in my finger up against the glass.

There was a dog that the owners must have handed over to the vet for some reason or other. He was for sale. He looked at me with those big sad brown eyes and I wanted to take him home. When he saw my dogs he got all excited started barking and wanted to play.

I really hope he goes to a good home.

Surprised

I can't bear the thought of all the dogs and cats that have been dumped on the steps of RSPCA. I can't bear to see the animals in cages knowing that if not claimed or bought they will be put to sleep. I wish I could set them free and take them home with me.

Animal cruelty -

Battery hens. I will only buy farm eggs. I go out to a property where I can see the hens and they are healthy and are living in good conditions. You can tell the difference between farm and battery hen eggs.

Fighting dogs. Made vicious to fight other dogs even to the death.

Trees cut down with no thought for the wildlife. I feel sad for the animals and angry at the greedy developers.

I love animals and feel they shouldn't be mistreated.  I finally became a vegetarian last May because I learned enough information on how horribly animals that are treated that are raised for our food.  I won't be a part of promoting that ever again. I think humans should evolve into not eating other beings when we have such an abundance of other healthy foods to eat.

I have a beautiful, wise husky named Nikita.  She is pure joy .  Nature is art to me and so wonderful, every living creature....

I'm interested but more in a pet kind of way.  I'm not interested in joining PETA, but I am more interested in getting people to spay and neuter, and to take care of the pets they have!  This is a big one with me.  I walk my dogs every day, usually 3 times a day and I HATE to see dogs tied up all day, every day.  I know its none of my business but I wish there were a law against this.  I see you have a kitty!  We have 5 cats (indoor/outdoor) and 2 dogs.  We are BIG animal lovers!  I'd have a houseful if I could afford it, LOL!Laughing

Sincerely

Rose
