About Me:
I was born in Kashmir, close to Pakistani border, in a village called Hill along the Jhelum river. I went to our local school there and did quite well, Alhamdulillah.
I moved to England just before my 16th birthday. My paternal uncle was already here since 1921. He had served in British army during the WWII.
I am married and have six children, five of them have married, all five of them have children. In total, I now have 12 grandchildren. The eldest grandson is now 22 years old and the youngest was born on 29th October 2011.
I have my own house (since I was 22 years old) with a lovely garden that I created from scratch and have about 350 rose bushes in it. I love roses more than any other flowers. My wife loves cutting roses for the vase. As there are many plants, there is no shortage of roses in the garden even if wife keeps cutting them regularly to bring in the house.
I am now retired and would love to go back to my roots and see the place where I was born. Sadly, the village has gone deep under water as they had built a dam (Mangla dam) there on river Jhelum in 1967. It used to be real fun swimming across that river in my youth. My father used to have a watermill on the river and it was a great attraction for us.
My Favorite Quote or Motto:No point in rejoicing when your enemies die; your friends will die too.
We have wild roses as the floral emblem of Alberta. If you or your wife cuts roses before they wilt to place in a vase, it stimulates the rose bush to produce more flowers. Only hardy roses last for more than one season here in Alberta so I rarely indulge myself by buying tea roses which won't usually survive the winter. When i see roses I think of "The Gulistan" verses.
