About Me:
I’m old; almost seventy and I love my age and my life. My husband Jim and I are retired, but we are very active in our parish. We live near our son and his wife and their two sets of twins: two girls and two boys – ages 7 and 3. So, much of my life is spent in the company of four amazing grandchildren.
Jim and I are also writers. For the past 14 years we have written “The Second Half,” a column for those of us in the second half of life. Jim is also a permanent deacon for the Diocese of Toledo. Sometimes we write together and sometimes separately. Over the past years our column has won two first place awards from the Catholic Press Association as well as a couple of second place awards. We have also written two books: “Closing in on God” (self-published – sold out) and “Grounded in God” available from Liguori Press.
We married in 1966 when we were Peace Corps Volunteers in Liberia, West Africa. We thought life was a great adventure then, and we still think amazing adventures are still waiting for us. I write about life as it happens to me. If you believe, as I do, that the most amazing life possible is the one right in front of us, please join me.
My Favorite Quote or Motto:Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
Hi Stephenway,
Thanks for the comment. Yep, I prefer depending on mercy for myself, too. (Though I do my best for the right living part, as well.) I will look forward to reading your posts.
Hi, Thank you so much for your vote of confidence. Sometimes I worry how much I say is from the Holy Spirit, and how much is influenced by personal feelings. But in the end, I'm a loud mouth that says what's on my mind, right or wrong. I know one day I'll be called to account for every word I say, and I can sometimes be quite vitriolic (and that's just now- my words were a lot worse working in industry). But I depend more on mercy than right living (which isn't to say I want to live wrong, but I know all too often, I don't live as right as I should.) Sorry- sometimes I get carried away. Thanks again and Love ya', Steve (or you can just call me Nutts)
Thanks so much for your friendship. One can never have too many. (Anyway- you've probably discovered, I'm a wee bit of a flirt). Love ya', Steve
