Came To Believe That A Power Greater Than Myself Could Restore Me To Sanity.
The key to this step is willingness. Just be willing to believe. That's why it says came to believe (came) that means it's a process.
Someone of us have never believed in anything. We have had no prior experience with God that we can recall. We have heard about him but we haven't had a personal relationship with him that we can recall.
Let's discuss that.
I thought the same way. I grew up in church and the church that I grew up in we had a Mother's board (the Mother's of the Church) and they would always testify during Sunday evening service.
If you never experience testimony service it would go something like this:
Mother Fuller would stand up and say "I thank the Lord for my health and strength. I thank the Lord that the bed that I laid down in last night was not my cooling board."
Mother Jones would say "I thank the Lord for my being my healer and mind regulator."
And Mother Nash would say "I thank the Lord for being my all and all and supplying my every need. I thank him for being a way out of no way. I thank him for being my protection, my shield, my rod and my banner."
The whole church would start shoutin'. I didn't know what they were really talkin' about because I didn't have a personal experience with God.
It wasn't until I had a problem that I couldn't fix that I found out what they were talking about.
For me the problem was drugs and alcohol. You always think when you first start that you can stop whenever you want to but if you find that you can't than your going to need some help.
It doesn't have to be drugs or alcohol but whatever it is that you can't stop and you need help most of the time human power can't help you.
Your going to need God. It's o.k. if you don't have any experience with him like me when I had my first encounter with him.
The only requirement is that you be willing to believe.
I knew I couldn't do it on my own. I needed God.
I just simply said "God I don't know if your real or not but if you are please help me!
Yes, I just simply cried out to God. I was at my witts in. I had no where else to turn.
And if you are in the same position to try God. Why not you have tried everything else and it hasn't worked.
Self will didn't work. Friends haven't worked. Family haven't worked. The job, the car, the house, etc. None of that stuff has worked.
So why not try God?
Listen, if God doesn't work you can always go back to being your same old miserable self.
Your misery is refundable.
But if you try this new way of life and find out that it's a much better life what have you lost?
Even if you believe in Darwinism (the big bang theory) well, who created the Bang!
Somebody had to make it go Bang! Because science says there's cause and effect.
What caused the Bang? And if were created from monkies than that is a contradiction of science when states that like cells produce like cells.
Monkey cells aren't the same DNA has humans. I have studied Anatomy and Physiology and in none of the books were human cells considered compatible with monkey cells. Well, in all honesty they say that the monkey is 93% compatible but 93% is not 100%. A 100% is what it would take to reproduce another human.
Anyway, we can debate all night but the point is that you just simply have to be willing to try God.
That is the beginning of your restoration to becoming whole. It is said that "All men of courage trust their God."
How courageous are you?
Let's take this step of belief.
