Did Mitt Romney's "Mormon speech" change minds? Is Barack Obama adopting George W. Bush's church-based organizing tactics? Will evangelicals sit the election out if Rudy Giuliani is the Republican nominee--or does Hillary Clinton's standing ovation at Saddleback mean she'll win more evangelicals than James Dobson would care to admit? God-o-Meter Politics is the place for discussion and debate about the role religion is playing in the 2008 presidential race, moderated by Beliefnet Politics Editor and God-o-Meter blogger Dan Gilgoff.

I'm amazed at how many Christians think Romney is a Christian and think Obama is not. It's bizarre. I'm not either religion but I know quite a bit having been raised in one of these religions. Anyone that knows anything about Mormonism knows it is not Christianity. If Romney wins though he would be the first non-Christian president and would at least speed the day when we have our first Hindu, Buddhist or atheist president. At least that would be a plus.

Romney is taking lying to new heights and it seems like he must know that he is lying with just about every breath. I'm just wondering if this is a Mormon thing, a conservative thing a private equity thing or is just Romney?

I am so tired of the politicians in this country using our faith in god to get their support. I couldnt believe what Michelle Bachmann said about the recent tornado and hurricanes....God sent a message...but it surely wasnt to get the voters or the politicians to listen to her on spending...come one Michelle take a minute and think before you speak....21 dead in one area is not a joke or something to be spoken about in JEST...The messge would have been for us ALL to wake up and listen to HIM...we all need to pay attention to HIM....I think someone thinks alttle to much of herself...sad...i thought she was doing well...HMMM...made me think again...isnt this kind of like Vice Pres...not thinking before speaking!

I hope all these people that claim to be christians wake up and start protecting our rights before they are all gone. We as a supposedly christian nation are sure letting a minority of atheist take our rights away. I agree with the post on here that a true christian would not have voted for obama. Our so called leaders of this nation are turning this nation into a socialistic country. We as christian have a GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO KEEP OUR RIGHTS, AND OUR FREEDOM. How much longer are we going to let this happen? It's time we as christians started standing up for us and our nation.
