The horrific series of events that culminated with Jovan Belcher shooting himself at the Kansas City Chiefs' facility in view of the team's general manager and coach on Saturday began when the 25-year-old linebacker fatally shot Kasandra M. Perkins at a nearby residence. The 22-year-old Perkins was Belcher's girlfriend and the couple had a child in September.
I am a bit lost on what to say, this is quite a shock.
The important thing to remember about American history is that it is fictional, a charcoal-sketched simplicity for the children or the easily bored. For the most part it is uninspected, unimagined, unthought, a representative of the thing and not the thing itself. It is a fine fiction...

This is not the kind of news piece that I typically follow. My husband tends to watch alot more ESPN and follow games quite a bit more than I do. He was horrified by the murder -suicide and disgusted with the way ESPN handled it. He felt like ESPN showed him as a victim with photos of him along with the year of his birth and death, similiar to how you might report on the death of a head of state or major celebrity. No mention of his fiancee in all that, no photos of her. That really irritated him because she of course is the real victim in all of this. Her and they infant daughter they shared who is now orphaned. |

I noticed that. It was almost like she was some sort of abstract score counter to explain how distressed he must have been. In a lot of accounts they never even mentioned her name.
