Actually, a swift powerful Blow to The Head probably results in INSTANT Death ...

But ... Yes ... Chimps are Opportunistic Feeders who include Animal Protein in their Diet ... Chimps are NOT "Vegans," either by their Obligatory Biology OR by their Culture ...

The fact that humans and chimps have so many characteristics in common relates to the fact that not only do we share DNA, but also that we have the same basic anatomy.  Is that so freaking hard to get?  Chimps didn't evolve to eat big slabs of cooked meat every day, but rather to live on a basic vegetable diet with the occasional bit of meat in the form of INSECTS or MICE or whatever they can find.

And the fact of their eating monkeys has nothing whatsoever to do with humans killing seals!!!

As ariel has pointed out ad infinitum, just because chimps or other animals find something, kill it and eat it, that has nothing to do with what humans do.

As ariel has also pointed out ad infinitum, if you want to make this case that humans are some sort of master race, then you have to also understand that humans would have risen above the find-something-kill-it-and-eat-it mindset.

Further, if humans are not the master race, then we're the same as chimps and other animals and there's nothing spiritual or special about us.

Make up your minds what it will be.

Meanwhile, at least admit that smashing in the heads of baby seals is not just horrible, but evil.  And the people who are trying so hard to get it stopped are saints.

Apparently, you have never seen any video clips of what they do or what the live seals look like during and after.

It's rather like the horrible things shown in "The Cove".  Did you see it?

Maybe you should have said heroes and heroines instead of saints.   Nobody could argue that volunteers with groups like Greenpeace are not heroes and heroines.

Yes, Rabello, anybody who makes any effort at all, no matter how small, to at least try to stop some of the horrors people inflict upon not just baby seals but all our fellow animals, is a hero/heroine.  And saints, too, because a saint is a righteous person.

What is highly disturbing is that some of the people posting in this thread don't seem to have a problem with seal slaughter, and they are even suggesting ways to kill the seals.

What money? According to the OP, there's no real market for it anymore.

So what's the point?

It is a left over from the times when there was a lot of money involved.

Now it is just one of those things that keep being repeated  out of habit, based on the ethnocentric human views of life, where no other form of life is worth anything unless  it can be used to  satisfy human desires or needs.

Most of your rant I am going to ignore.  But i will point out the bleeding obvious - Humans appear for al intents and purposes to be the "master race".  We could kill all chimps in a relatively short period of time if we wanted to.  Chimps, no matter how motivated would not be able to kill more than a few humans.  We also have the ability to preserve and facilitate the ongoing existance of wild chimps.  So, there appears to be something special about humans because we alone have the ability to exact great sweeping changes on the planet.  We are the Gods in the animal world, like it or not.  And for the record, I really don't care if you don't like it.  Tough tatas as they say.

Now I will say that with our SPECIAL and EXTRAORDINARY ability comes certain responsibilities.  Try as they might the chimps and pretty much all the animals in the world cannot band together to decide how to save or preserve the humans. Only humans can make efforts to save the animals.

I think we share about 50% of our DNA with a common field mouse.  I think 14% of our DNA is shared with an earthworm.  So I am not over-flipping impressed that we share 96% with a chimp.  As I said before, there are significant and profound differences between chimps and humans.  It is STUPID to claim we should have the exact same diet.
