Yes, I am misinformed on the propaganda you are pumping out. I am informed on the facts, facts you seem to ignore.

This article written in 1993 disagrees with you.

No, it shows that some people cannot think above an emotional level and are incapable of thinking things through.

And that's what you'd say about an animal, isn't it.  They have reactions but don't know what they are about.  Blah.

Yes, cattle have no capacity to think things through. In this case the cow did not want to be where it was so it tried to go to a place it wanted to be. That's about the extent of it's thinking ability. Unless you have been in contact with, and had a conversation with, this cow you can't tell me anything different.

You're anthropomorphizing and emotionalizing again. That will always take you to the wrong place.

I heard the same thing when I was growing up.  Indoctrination.  Why didn't you get over it?

Because I'm not the one that has been indoctrinated.

I can't speak for all cows -- but the ones around here have a damn good life. Better than anything a wild bovine could ever hope for.

Their deaths, too, tend to be far quicker and less traumatic than anything a wild animal faces. Nature is a stone cold bitch.

All this talk about cattle being savagely mistreated by people rings hollow to me, having been close to ranching my entire life.

That said, again, mass beef consumption is neither particularly healthy, or good for the environment. The future will probably be much more vegetarian.

No, it disagrees with you. The article is not about cattle or any other bovine. The intelligence level of a cow is not comparable to that of a dolphin - which the article was about. It is very disingenuous of you to even attempt to claim the intelligence of those two species are comparable.

I'd have no problem with that.

Good grief, Your position is that animals don't think. I am providing articles that show animals think, plain and simple.

And as for your other post to me about some  (meaning me) can't think above an emotional level, can't think things through, I responded that that is what you'd say to an animal. You didn't get what you were doing there.

My position is that you don't give animals the credit they deserve.

Aside from all the above...Learning, what is it? It is conditioned response.  Much of what humans 'think' is merely indoctrination and conditioned response, not true thinking.

Me neither.  :) I eat turkey on Thanksgiving.  Although, the ones in the store aren't so good.  I used to live in Davis, CA.  Halfway between Davis and Woodland there was a meat market that sold fresh turkeys during the Holidays.  There's a world of difference.
