I'm fully aware that I'll have to change the title of this thread later tonight after the ceremonies

I predict the movie I watch tonight will be far more interesting. I just can't get into the Oscars. Some get more worked up over them than the Super Bowl. To each their own. But I hear "The Artist" is going to do well. I don't think so though. It's a little short on dialog.

I enjoyed a successful basketball game this afternoon. That's enough excitement for one weekend. |

So far, it looks like "The Artist" is sweeping the biggies...

I've never cared about "The Oscars" or "The Grammies" or NASCAR or The SuperBowl or The NBA Final Four or Tiger Woods' Golf Game and Mistresses .... |

I enjoy a good movie; I like watching football, and I enjoy watching (and playing) golf. But in any case- treating these people like they are some sort of superhumans is over the top. Tiger Woods is a great golfer, Eli Manning is a great quarterback, Meryl Streep is a great actress, Scorsese is a great director. I can appreciate great talent without having to get excited about everything they do in their private lives; way too much attention. Beyonce and JZ had a baby; well, great, so did about 10,000 other people that day. These people do not walk on water.

The last time I cared about the Oscars was when Mickey Rourke was robbed of Best Actor (for The Wrestler).

From what I've heard about The Iron Lady, it's not half damning enough. Then again, Meryl Streep would have had to behead kittens on camera for it to be damning enough. Americans, think of Dick Cheney in drag with even less compassion and you have Thatcher.
