Yes SCOTUS appointed Bush as POTUS and subjected the US to eight years of embarrassment with a totally incompetent warmonger.

I don't recall the SCOTUS having the authority to elect a president.

Congress legislate the laws. The Constitution, congress  and state legislators have established the election process by law.  That is the  Legislators job. The Voters vote. Laws are executed by the executive branch( president )              Voters vote, Legislator legislate (make laws) and when a disputes or a misunderstandings arise,  there has to be a mediators; that is the function of the Judiciary.   In 2000 in the Florida elections, th voters voted. Their was questions about the outcome, a dispute.   The Judiciary interpreted election results. The SCOTUS did not elect The President, the voters and  the electoral  college  elected the POTUS.

When something does not turn out the way some want, they yell Fraud, cheating, and many other disparaging remarks.  The  system worked the way it is supposed to settle disputes   the Presidency and administration changed without a coup’d’etat .  It was 12  years ago Two more presidential elections   and another change of administrations without violence but with controversy an again the system  resolved disputes of birth certificates , qualification etc.   But agin some yell fraud, cheat, etc.       "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time." (from a House of Commons speech on Nov. 11, 1947)Churchhill  had  defeated in a democratic  election

SCOTUS overturned the Florida Supreme Court and by a 5-4 majority stopped the recount in heavily Democratic Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties before it was finished. A later recount by the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago showed that Gore actually won by between 107-115 votes, but SCOTUS had already appointed Bush POTUS.

I know; I run that by the Wingos and they are struck, dumb:  Sort of the usual, de rigeur, quotidian mode de vie of Wingoism, just sayin'.  Wink

Republicans experience suffering the way they experience all their virtues, i.e. vicariously.

According to "just war" standards of Christian theology, if Saddam Hussein killed 30,000 Iraqis, and the Iraq War killed 120,00, how was the War "just"?

That's why they are trying to get these laws passed. Most of those groups you mentioned just happen to vote Democratic most of the time. There are more registered Democrats than Republicans. The easiest way for Republicans to win is to make it hard for Democrats to vote. A democracy is the LAST thing Republicans want.
