I watched Hewitt quite a bit as part of the coverage in the aftermath of Cronkite's death, although I'd kept track of him over the years, as well.
He was so vibrantly here so recently ... and then gone forever.
We take 60 Minutes for granted today, and even find it quite tame. But it was huge in both concept and substance when it first came on the air, and not at all tame. One hour a week dedicated to real news? Unthinkable at the time!

Pancreatic cancer.... 30 years ago, any diagnosis of cancer was usually fatal. Not so much now, survival rates are astonishing.... unless you're dealing with pancreatic cancer. Likelyhood of survival is still very, very, low.
