Hafez is regarded as the closest thing to a Prophet that any human can be in Iran where he and his poetry is deeply loved. I think he is wonderful, but I do not have enough knowledge of farsi to understand him in the language in which he wrote. However, I am told that Ladinsky's translations are very suspect and many of the poems are things the author wrote, albeit inspired by Hafez, and not Hafez's poems at all. If I can figure out how to attach a picture I will show a few of the pictures I took at the shrine of Hafez in Shiraz. If anyone knows how please advise.
