Is that even allowed? I would really like the experience of being immersed in that kind of faith community, but I'm not sure if it is allowed. Any help would be appreciated |

BS"D Yes it is "allowed." But it may be for you similar to visiting a foreign country. You would not want to engage in any seemingly harmless or unconscious behaviorisms that you would take for granted as insignificant that would result in embarrassing you or your hosts. For that reason I suggest you learn a little what it is like to live a life of chassidus from some real Chassidim and then you may be invited for a Shabbos after you eventually learn to trust each other and are confident you will not unintentionally offend each other. A Chabad house is a good place to start as they are dedicated to igniting that spark of yiddishkeit in Jews who are curious as to what treasures exist in Torah that are obscured by the ravages of majority non-Jewish world life. And many Chabad house families are comfortable in arranging home environments where the non-observant will not get into trouble by accident or lack of knowledge. Go and study and then do it, just like Torah. |
