What do you love about David Sheinkin's book in particular?

For me my favorite English language Kabbalah writer is Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan o.b.m. What I love about his writing is a genuine very wide ranging knowlege of the topic combined with his ability to smoothly simplify difficult cosmic concepts.

Also, he was a pioneer in the field of bringing genuine Jewish mysticism into the idiomatic language of the English speaking public. Truthfully, he also wrote many Jewish books that did not have mysticism as their main focus. He was very well rounded.

This book is an excellent introduction to the entire system of Kabbalah, in a way of comprehension and understanding.  Part one explains the Kabbalistic System of the Chaining Down of the Worlds - known as the Seder Hishtalshelut. This knowledge is the foundation of all Kabbalistic thought, and gives great insight into the nature of our existence, and into G-d.  The second part is an introduction to the Kabbalistic method of contemplation and meditation, known as Hitbonenut.  Part three explains how the various levels of one's soul become revealed through Hitbonenut meditation. (145 pages)
