I can understand why the Church would consider excommunication for submitting such baptismal information. To be internationally embarrassed twice within one week must be infuriating.

Remember, think before you baptize!!! That includes you Logan Temple goers who did the Temple work for Mickie and Minnie Mouse, without explicit permission from the Screen Actors Guild.

There are well-meaning but stupid members of the Church.  Sloppy name-submission should be a basis for calling someone in and couseling them.  Defiant stupidity should be the basis for stiffer measures, including temporary loss of temple privileges.  Attempts to harm the Church, by using the process to hold it up to ridicule - and to bring its beliefs and practices into contempt - should be a basis for excommunication.

Mere negligence or stupidity falls far short of deserving such measures.

But make no mistake about it, if some idiot member went out of his way to embarrass the Church, it's a little like 9/11.  The 19 hijackers who managed to reroute four separate jumbo jets - armed solely with boxcutters - and then rammed them into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the surface of Pennsylvania, were responsible for their own murderous acts.  But anybody who thinks the government - from the CIA to the FBI to the FAA to the Air Force and the White House - isn't to blame for letting a 19-member odd squad get this close to burning down the country is obviously missing a brain cell or two.

The Church deserves a good slapping from somewhere.  Somebody fell asleep at the switch.  If some idiot can push the names of Holocaust victims through the LDS database, that database has no security.

If some high-tech cat burglar hits your neighborhood - and your house along with the rest - you're a victim.  If you left the door open, you're a fool.

I think we all know where the Church stands in this.  How about "condemned as Hell"?

In the meantime, Mr. Holocaust baptizer should get his frequent-flyer miles revoked.  Rip the "Families Are Forever" sticker off his Winnebago.  He ain't going nowhere.

And while you're at it, can the guy at the Church Office Building who was in charge of database security.  He obviously needs to sell shoes for a living.
