I've attended many churches and temples trying to find one that would feel right for me and match with my personal beliefs well. I finally rested on the Unitarian Universalist church a couple years ago but I want something that supports my belief in God. I want something with more structure and tradition. I don't want to ignore the teachings of Jesus and I'm willing to accept his divinity but I just need to learn a little more about all of this before I decide what I believe.

Which "brand" of the UCC family have you considered? E and R, my branch, is generally liturgical, simple worship, structured, and friendly; the Congo Christians are "brainier" but also loving, liturgical, and centred on the sermon. Etc. Call the pastor, leave a "call me" message, and discuss. We UCCs don't hit people over the head with "required" beliefs, and all kinds of "former" denominations worship now in the UCC. Come on by.

"Wesley told the early Methodists to gain all they could and save all they could so that they could give all they could. It means that I consider my money to belong to God and I see myself as one of the hungry people who needs to get fed with God’s money. If I really have put all my trust in Jesus Christ as savior and Lord, then nothing I have is really my own anymore." |
