Greetings to all. The following video is not specifically Lutheran; however I thought it was inspirational and hoped others on this board would too: www.peacepilgrim.com/htmfiles/sagevideo.... In a time with such anger, such bitterness, it's refreshing to learn about a woman who chose to wander for peace. What do you guys think? Are there others who have inspired you in similar ways? ~L

A late pastor at our church, John Peterson, became a "worker priest" under the LCA's guidelines. He worked as a carpenter--"just like Jesus," he used to say--and dedicated his ministry to peacemaking. He was arrested several tiimes for protesting at nuclear missle silos and was jailed with the Berrigan brothers in Washington, D.C., for protesting at the Pentagon. Remarkably, he was a World War II Pacific theater veteran and fought as a Marine heavy machine gunner in New Guinea, Peleliu, and Iwo Jima. When he served as parish pastor he was highly valued for his pastoral support of people in crisis and for his social ministry activities. I'm not called to protest and be arrested (at least not at this time) but John fought for peace and for those who were without. Should we not all do the same? Lynn |

What a blessing to have known him! That is very inspirational Lynn, thank you!
Be it wandering around, building or even protesting... your are right; we are all called to use our gifts the best ways we know how (and be thankful for God's grace for when we don't)
