What is SSPX? I have know clue as to what this means.

Although the society seems to deny it, the SSPX  is in schism, and the founder was excommunicated in 1988

There was good progress toward reconciliation this summer, but it seems the lines of commuication broke down without a resolution.

Many  people who prefer the traditional Mass would like to attend these chapels, if they are available, but it is not permitted, except perhaps in an emergency, when no Roman Mass is available.  It cannot be used just because someone doesn't like the NO Mass.
