God is not partial and is no respecter of persons. He has made provision for all. The harvest comes forth for everyone. The rain showers upon everybody and the heat of the sun is destined to warm everyone. The verdure of the earth is for everyone. Therefore there should be for all humanity the utmost happiness, the utmost comfort, the utmost well-being.  But if conditions are such that some are happy and comfortable and some in misery; some are accumulating exorbitant wealth and others are in dire want -- under such a system it is impossible for man to be happy and impossible for him to win the good pleasure of God. God is kind to all. The good pleasure of God consists in the welfare of all the individual members of mankind.

The highest of created beings fighting to obtain the lowest form of matter, earth!  Land belongs not to one people, but to all people.  This earth is not man's home, but his tomb.  It is for their tombs these men are fighting.  There is nothing so horrible in this world as the tomb, the abode of the decaying bodies of men.

Strive with all your power to be free from imperfections.  Heedless souls are always seeking faults in others.  What can the hypocrite know of others' faults when he is blind to his own?

A certain person bestowed a coin upon five beggars.  They resolved to spend it for food. The Englishman said, "Buy grapes."  The Turk wanted uzum, the Arab anab, the Greek stafi'li, the Persian angur.  Not understanding each other's language, they quarreled and fought.  A stranger came along. He was familiar with all five languages.  He said, "Give me the coin; I will buy what you wish."  When he brought them grapes, they were all satisfied.  They wanted the same thing but differed in the term only. Briefly, when reality dawns in the midst of the religions, all will be unified and reconciled.

Detachment consists in refraining from letting our possessions possess us.  A prosperous merchant who is not absorbed in his business knows severance.  A banker whose occupation does not prevent him from serving humanity is severed.  A poor man can be attached to a small thing.

This sacred day [Naw Ruz], when the sun illumines equally the whole earth, is called the equinox, and the equinox is the symbol of the Manifestation of God.  The  Sun of Truth rises on the horizon of Divine Mercy and sends forth its rays...  The rising of the sun at the equinox is the symbol of life, and likewise it is the symbol of the Divine Manifestations of God, for the rising of the Sun of Truth in the heaven of Divine Bounty established the signal of Life for the world.  The human reality begins to live, our thoughts are transformed and our intelligence is quickened.  The Sun of Truth bestows Eternal Life, just as the solar sun is the cause of terrestrial life.

To every human being must ye be infinitely kind.  Call none a stranger; think none to be your foe.  Be ye as if all men were your close kin and honoured friends.  Walk ye in such wise that this fleeting world will change into a splendour and this dismal heap of dust become a palace of delights.  Such is the counsel of 'Abdu'l-Bahá, this hapless servant.

The mineral kingdom possesses the power of existing. The plant has the power of existing and growing. The animal, in addition to existence and growth, has the capacity of moving about, and the use of the faculties of the senses. In the human kingdom we find all the attributes of the lower worlds, with much more added thereto.  Man is the sum of every previous creation, for he contains them all.

To them is proclaimed this celestial call, revealed in His most holy Book:  "O My people!  Be not perplexed should the star of My presence disappear, and the ocean of My utterance be stilled.  In My presence among you there was the wisdom of God, and in My absence from you there is yet another, inscrutable to all but the One, the All-Knowing.  Verily, We behold you from Our realm of effulgent glory, and will graciously aid whosoever striveth for the triumph of Our Cause with the hosts of the celestial Concourse and a company of Our chosen angels."

Verily, eyes are dazzled by gazing at the sun, and it is impossible to consider it because of the intensity of its rays; and verily the sea cannot be contained in a cup. The weakness of eyes does no harm to the sun, nor the smallness of the cup to the sea...  Verily, minds are limited, and the splendor of lights is so great as not to be comprehended by (man's) reflective faculties. Ye ought to have the sight of the heart so that ye may apprehend the reality of the mysteries of God which are deposited behind coverings.
