There is only one verse of the many quoted below considered historical per Jesus Seminar. That would be Luke 4:24 "The truth is, no prophet is welcome on his home turf."
Are there some scholars who consider these historical? Quite a few don't.. [QUOTE=Miguel_de_Servet;509228]No, Jesus did NOT want "Christianity" i. First announced that the the Kingdom of God was "fulfilled in his person" (Luke 4:14-30) ii. Then accepted Peter's confession of his Messiahship at Caesarea Philippi (Matthew 16:13-20)
iii. Then, immediately after Peter's confession, Jesus prophesied that his Messiahship was not a "triumphal march" (as expected by the Jews for the Messiah), but that it entailed his passion, death and resurrection. (Matthew 16:21-28)
iv. Then immediately before his passion and death, and again after his resurrection, Jesus confirmed that his promise of God's Kingdom will be perfectly fulfilled at his Second Coming, with the Resurrection and the Final Judgment. (Matthew 24:14; 25:31-46; Acts 1:6-8)

Whether or not The Historical Lord Jesus of Nazareth fully intended to begin something like "The Church," He CERTAINLY began a "Movement" which was "up-and-running" from the Day He Called "The Twelve" ...

Mickey Mouse is the spiritual founder of the Mickey Mouse Club, so it appears that existence in reality isn't prerequisite to get things moving - just followers. |

Acts 1:8"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." If Jesus doesn't want Christianity then why He want the apostles to be His witness? Is Christianity all about witnessing Christ?
