I am currently leading a group that has defined sorcery to its own purposes.  This sorcery is neither bad nor good.  In fact, it transcends duality altogether.  So far we have two documents to lay out who we are and our goals.

The Creed of Algol

The trick to being a successful sorcerer is to never take yourself too seriously. After all, there is no "you" to take seriously, so why waste time with an imaginary construct? Now that we have that cleared up...

By definition sorcerers should never be bound by any creed or suggested belief.  In this case, what is said here is only some guidelines and some explanation of what we are about and where we are going

We are bound by the star Algol, which in its time has been known by the most loathsome of epithets--the Demon Star, Pile of Corpses, Star of Evil, and so it goes.  But we are not evil, nor are we demons.  Algol represents the aspects of existence most difficult to accept and challenge.  We acknowledge the less pleasant attributes of being human and seek to turn them into strengths.  We are not monsters, but we seek to understand monsters and to gain wisdom from them.

As sorcerers, we know that we are bound to everything in the universe, just as everything in the universe is bound to us.  We seek to be masters of our element, to live and thrive to our highest universal potential.

Going One Past "Witch"

Don't get us wrong. Witch is a fine and beautiful word, and many witches are fine and beautfiul people. Many of us are witches in addition to being sorcerers. It's all good and it's all silly, since we're working with ideas and concepts that go so far beyond words.

The difference--vaguely, at least for our purposes--is one of scope. The sorcerer probably has an ego that has been earned through study and exploration. Therefore, the sorcerer is thinking in bigger terms, such as elements or astronomical events. After all, we are all part of the same universe, are we not? We have all be woven into the same infinity. The sorcerer has the notion to try and make some kind of difference.

Good, bad? Light, dark? Check duality at the entrance. But don't fear to come in and be a part of the divine madness, for all who seek are welcome.

We're not THE way.  We are ONE way.

Hello Pranivore,

Sounds like you have a fun group, exploring.  What I mean by exploring is, sounds like you have taken from different world religions and practices/understandings, whatever suits you at this time.  Good luck with your endeavors.
