Because most folks are confused, unenlightened, out of balance, scatterred and lacking in inner harmony, sorcerers and their ilk have devised several techniques for circumventing or by-passing or drilling down through our conscious minds to connect with power. One of the most common of such methods is the invocation or evocation of an intermediary to carry out the desired project. The range of intermediaries is astonishing, including angels, demons, spirits, gods, power animals, servitors, saints, ancestors and many others.

Regardless of the actual etiology of these entities they serve to distance the practioners from his/her own flaws and self doubts and place the project of interest into the "hands" of constructs/entities which are seen as stronger, wiser, more powerful, more focused and more knowledgeable, albeit sometimes much more dangerous. This approach if done with care and understanding is in my experience the 'easiest' for the novice seeking to enter the practice of sorcery, by whatever name you choose to call it. Dennis
