Sweeping statements? Maybe, but facts don't lie. There's a lot more to atheism and agnosticism than most religious people would care to admit.
Actually, there isn't anything to Atheism except a lack of belief in gods. There's nothing more to Atheism than that; just one position on a single issue. I do not rob banks because I am an Atheist. I do not rob banks because it's not my money and in a society where I, and my family, can prosper such crimes are not conducive to that prosperity. It's not the lack of belief in gods but the depths of morals that keep Atheists from doing those things you mentioned.
Buy, hey, we're not perfect. I added to the number of Atheists that have been divorced. (All my fault too.)

I am a Humanist. I believe in a rational philosophy of life, informed by science, inspired by art, and motivated by a desire to do good for its own sake and not by an expectation of a reward or fear of punishment in an afterlife.

Solf, you do luv studies that promote your POV. Okay, by me.
Those studies back up the facts he presented earlier.
Personally I don't care what individuals believe or do not believe. It's not on my radar. Which is what most, if not all, Atheists would say. That doesn't mean that others cannot be tolerant too.
In my generation I have noticed far fewer divorces among Catholics than among other Xtian denominations and not always because of rules--different orientation ans values. I don't do apologetics on any level--don't really care enuf. Since many christian sects have a very high rate of divorce, it's not hard for another group to have fewer.
Values matter more to me than affliliation or no affiliation. No one here has said anything different. Your objections are confusing.

Yes, Jane, your objections are indeed confusing. So often, when posting in a thread, you will declare that you have no interest in the subject being discussed, and then you will proceed to voice an opinion anyway. This can be confusing and make the reader wonder just what is your intent.

I wonder if there would be such push back from atheists if theists most commonly conservative Christians, were not trying so hard to put faith into the public sphere in law and education?

From what I've read and seen, atheists are more tolerant of people with other beliefs than theists, and more likely to live and let live. But atheists are not tolerant of unscientific claims, because atheists require scientific evidence if we are going to take some theory seriously. Science seeks the truth.
Atheists are intolerant of irrational thinking and unreasonable beliefs. Atheism is skepticism.
Or, as actor Ricky Gervais, an atheist, has pointed out:
blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2010/12/19/a-hol...
'The existence of god is not subjective. He either exists or he doesn't. It's not a matter of opinion. You can have your own opinions, but you can't have your own facts.'
On (at least) one of the anti-gay-closeted-Republican-gets-caught-in-gay-scandal threads, we have a 'believer' trying to tell us it is atheists who tell gay people that "God hates fags!" instead of the Westboro BAPTIST CHURCH. And that it is atheists that pushed Prop 8 in CA instead of the LDS CHURCH and the CATHOLIC CHURCH.
It does seem, at times, that religionists want to push their beliefs (and lies) into laws governing ALL people.

Which is proof that some of these theists do not have a very firm grasp on reality.
It does seem, at times, that religionists want to push their beliefs (and lies) into laws governing ALL people. The problem is they want to push the most hateful, the most regressive, of their beliefs on others. It's never the nice stuff like taking care of the poor, tolerance, forgiveness, love, and such.
