Money stretches thin
but it is still good to give
from one's abundance
it is the same with material good.
Ideas never spread thin,
they grow in strength
area and density
The more shared
the more expansion
and the more fortified.

What have you gained
if you have wrangled the respect of those
whose idea of elevation of self
involves stepping on, indeed squashing down others
to stand on their backs. . .
the admiration of those whose
backs are stood on?? Maybe.
Do not offer your back
but neither value their respect
which is undoubtedly
based on hurtful standards,
rather pray for that person
like you would for a sick friend.

Wind moaning, howling outside
but through every doorway
I see beautiful sunshine
like a smile from God;
blowing in each open door
the warm breath of,
God as Earth,
a much needed respite from winter's chill,
that eternity awaits,
where we find the end
of our temporary stay in time.

We pump poison into the skies
irritating mother natures eyes
washing it from the air,
into our hair!

You. . .
you live on this earth.
You can tell yourself all you like,
that a selfish individual goal
that despoils the planet
to put dollars or convenience into your life,
is in your best interest;
tell yourself all you like. . .
but it will still be a lie.

"the courage to change"*
before you can have this,
you must have the courage to question. . .
your beliefs about yourself, the world, and your fellow humans.
you can keep on with ideas about these things
that may have served you once,
but have outlived their usefulness,
* quote from the serenity prayer

Before you can learn
a new way of perceiving
an aspect of life,
you must become willing
you must cease to cling
to old attitudes,
you must be willing to have been mistaken.

Holy, Holy, Holy,
God, you, and me!
What the Holy One has created
because all creation
is made of
the source of all life.
the ever-extending universe!

The golden rule covers a lot of ground.
For example: "do not judge and you will not be judged"
is once again,
treating another the way you want to be treated,
none of us like it when other people judge us.
Or "forgive" . . . "seventy times seven"
I know when I make a mistake I want people to forgive me,
and making mistakes is something we do our whole life long,
which surely adds up to "seventy times seven" if not more.
