Kindly allow me to relate to you the true story of what my 8 year old daughter said to me regarding a vivid dream she had last night. We were out shopping yesterday when at about 6 PM, from out of the blue my 8 year old, Jenelle, told me that she had a dream the day before and that she had been made to "know" by God who she was, an angel, At first I didn't get the significance of what she was saying and I replied, "Yes you are an angel.and you make me so happy," But she "corrected me" and said, "No Papa, I have had a dream, and in it the world exploded, and suddenly I popped into Heaven and people were popping up all around me, and I was scared, and I said, "What is happening to me? Where am I?" Jenelle said she was hungry and so we went to McDonald's to buy her favorite food, six chicken nuggets. We were still in the car in the " drive through" when Jenelle asked me to park in the parking lot where nobody would be near us, "because she was shy", and this we did. When she was finished with her food I asked Jenelle, "Did you get talk much with Jesus during those five days with him and if some what did you talk about?" She said, "Oh yes, Papa. I asked him lots of questions, and he answered every one of them." I said, "Jenelle, please tell me every thing you can remember, and let's continue this talk all night if necessary until we get tired." She said,"Oh, I won't get tired. I'm an angel; and , Papa, you're an angel too. You just don't know it yet. " Parenthetically, just to say that I think that if my daughter's dream had occurred with her upbringing being Buddhism or Skepticism instead of Christianity, then the avatar in her dream may very well have been the Buddha or Carl Sagan, but somehow put to her in a way that made perfect sense. I asked Jenelle, "If you are an angel, how is it that you are my daughter? I thought that angels were separate beings?" She said (in words to this affect), Some "people" just want to be angels. Some want to be both people and angels. In Heaven you can do what you want, Some people get bored in Heaven, like me, and I looked around and I wanted to be with you, Papa, so here I am." And I said, "What did Jesus tell you, Jenelle, in those five days?" And she said, "One thing is that everyone goes to Heaven when they die. Even the very bad people go to Heaven, but they are not in our group. Even the animals go to Heaven, but they are not in our group.. But you can go see them if you want because you can do anything you want in Heaven. And if you get bored you can try something else, like going somewhere else or being some thing else." We talked for a short while, and after I related to her that I was quite discouraged about this and that, and about the condition of the world, the starving billions of mothers with children, so innocent, and I said "let's not forget the holocaust,... my heart really is so broken. Do you know about the Holocaust, Jenelle,: And she said, "Papa, when you feel like this just call on me and I will comfort you. Don;t you remember, I am your angel. I am here, Papa, just for you, And, Papa, take this and wipe your eyes (she handed me a McDonald's napkin). I am remembering now that early in this conversation, Jenelle happily announced, "I cannot wait until Monday. I am going to do show and tell at school about my dreams. The kids will love it. I have lots of stories to tell now, and my teacher will be so proud. I know she will give me a big hug, and I am sure she will give me an A. (The above is just a portion of the four hour conversation.) |

Jonathen,
I have only just read this post, and feel the need to respond. I do not post much in the beliefnet forum, but visit a lot to learn. What a wonderful experience for your little girl. I really don't know what the term "angel" means but I feel a little enlightened now. I pray she will always remember her experience, never forget who she really is. It is so fortunate for both you and her that you were willing to accept what she said, and to talk more with her. When I was young, I "knew" that I was only visiting this earth, that I had come from a wonderful place, but no-one would listen to me. So many of my dreams, and experiences were put down by the adults in my life, and I was told to stop making up stories. It is only recently, (I am in my 60th year) that I have begun to re-realise who I am, and why I am here. And also, who we all are, visitors here experiencing life, by our own choice. Take care of your child, and this wonderful revelation she has had. |

Thank you, Annie_alive, for your encouraging words. I feel as you do a reawakening; I am 60 this week. What a blessing to have an 8 year old to "run the last lengths of my marathon" with me. Today I came across the encouraging insights of Chris Watson that Jesus agreed and strongly argued our divinity with the priests of his day. In his web-page Ye are Gods he says, "It is possible that each of us is a function of what the whole cosmos is doing at a point called here and now. In effect, each of us IS the whole universe looking at itself through our eyes. The universe is conscious and self-aware, a.k.a. God, and this awareness and consciousness is within each of us. In other words, what happened to Jesus was NOT a unique experience that only happened to one man in all history and prehistory, but something that EACH of us can experience directly when we tune in to the consciousness that is the base of our existence.
...Jesus did NOT say he is the Son of God; he said I am a Son of God. He also quoted Psalm 82 that says “Ye are gods.”
... In other words, what happened to him is NOT something unique that could ONLY happen to him, but it can happen to each of us. Jesus even PRAYS that we can experience it too! " What a joy it is now to know these things. |
