sun sinks
in apricot bliss

dusk settles
a lilac mantle
across the day's
long, dour face

the wins and losses
fall gently into place-
neither mattering
more than the other
when its all
said and done

a mockingbird
scansorially serenades
the advent of evening
hidden in the leafy
bower of an ash tree

while I welcome
the peace to be found
in the graceful
arms of the night
wishing I had wings
with which to take flight
