I am able to pray the Rosary with images of the Holy Land by using the www.comepraytherosary.org web site.  Helps me focus :)

As I was visiting around the community this morning. One thing caught my eye. (intentions) It's when prayer comes naturally. I'm sure everyone here has some sort of intention. Whether it's a friend or some family member in need. It's that simple to ask the lord for strength in this area. AmenSealed
I wish someone else would join this discussion but it may be that they find the title Creative Visualization confusing. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a very good title, but it's not immediately clear what you're talking about, and many people won't go to the trouble to look into it for that reason. I think you should retitle it and try again
How about "Scientific Prayer" - Nevilling? Both of these methods of prayer include imagining and "feeling" what you would feel if your prayer was a reality, now!

Hello Spirit,
It is very interesting that you mention the "law of attraction" in relation to the practice of creative visualization.  I completely agree in the practice of both.  I believe that once you focus on positive energy and are able to visualize, discipline yourself in a positive light.. you would be able to change your perspective on the world.  Each obstacle that you approach, you will become clear-minded and be able to separate yourself from being immersed in say, an angry situation and observe from an outward perspective- addressing the situation more postively versus being consumed by the situation at hand.  I guess, stepping out of your immediate, emotional response and addressing the situation with tact and logic.

chantillylace - It is a plan.  You are right. Visualizing the Pure Land/Heaven/New Jerusalem, or whatever one calls it, is a powerful and beautiful exercise.  No matter what, we will experience the blessing of visualizing this.  We never know the impact it may have on the bigger picture.  It can only be positive.

Hi Sara and Spirit wind,

Periodically I too use guided imagery.  Often I don't realize the importance until I've had time to really process what I've seen.  Then, when recalled I learn importance.  I'ts really been helpful.

I feel inspire to ask you to include the whole of humanity in your imagery of the pure land.  How beautiful it will be.  Maybe if you can imagine this beauty, you can help bring this world into fruition.  I'll commit to doing this as well and we;ll see what happens.  Rippling like a wonderous butterfly effect from ones imagination to the whole of the world.  We can come to realize that there really is only oneness and love,  in this we will be doing our part to help to end all suffering.  Just by imagining it is so.  You can not make changes by the same thought which formulated the present but must change your perspective.  Out of that metamorphosis change is possible.

I know this sounds sort of out there but oh well I felt compelled to share.

Have a wonderful day!

No, I really don't think I ever do anything like that, but again, I'm not creative at all.

Speaking of titles, I just revised my blog title, I mean the title to the whole blog, and also added a new entry. So you might want to check it out. (petitioninggod.com---feedback more than welcome)

peace & joy---

Getting back to creative visualization, the most common one I do is envision white light surrounding me....or sometimes emanating from me.  I usually include a silent or verbal prayer with it.  Like asking Jesus for his white light to protect me and to shine love and light to others.

Here's something that I do for the sheer fun of it.  I often visualize the situation I am in (often a meeting) as if we are in a cartoon TV show, like Family Guy. I love doing this.  Granted, it probably doesn't have much "spiritual value", but it lightens my mood and makes me more creative.

Do you guys have any fun ones?

Sara - Yes, that is it exactly.  Hanh discusses this beautifully in Being Peace.  I'm not putting down people who participate in these movements.  I am critical, however, of some of the people in these movements.  I can tell from your post that you know exactly what I'm talking about.  Different protests....same personalities.

Interesting, thanks for explaining yourself. A decade or two ago when in grad school it seemed clear to me that most of the angry militant feminists I knew were really just angry people who took out their anger at the world in a self-righteous way, and I found some of them so unappealing that it made me seriously question my own views about feminism. Finally I realized that all feminists weren't like that, but that the angry, mean ones were the only ones that were visible, for obvious reasons. So I was able to come back around to supporting their goals but not their attitudes & methods. Maybe this is sort of what you're talking about with the prophetic-voice types---because the feminists who got under my skin were definitely "weak at interpersonal relations."
