Dear Community Members:
Beliefnet’s Community has always been a place to both express your thoughts, feelings and ideas as well as a place to connect with others who share your interests and, especially, your faith and beliefs. Since the Community’s launch over 10 years ago, there have been a lot of changes in the digital world, including the emergence of social media platforms as the most popular method for connecting with one another online. As a result of this mass migration toward public-facing social media channels like Facebook, members are now looking to additional channels to grow and express themselves. In addition, Beliefnet is also growing and evolving and we plan to launch an upgraded version of our website in the near future. As we plan for this update, we’ve been faced with making some difficult decisions regarding content to roll over to the new site. It is for these reasons that we announce the closing of the Beliefnet Community effective October 31, 2015.
All of the great discussion forums, groups, journals, photos, videos, prayers, and other Community content you have generously created through the years will remain live on the website. However, please note that after October 31st all content will be in read-only format. You will not be able to log in and/or delete, edit, or otherwise change any of your content.
While we all are saddened by this news, there will still be plenty of ways to connect with both Beliefnet members and others who share similar interests and beliefs, including Facebook, where we’ve now created Groups based on popular forums for those interested in continuing dialogue with fellow Community members.
Finally, we want to thank each and every one of you for your contributions through the years. We especially extend our gratitude to each and every one of our volunteer hosts for generously contributing your time, talent, and energy to hosting, nurturing, and building our Community discussion forums through the years. We couldn’t have done it without you. It’s been a privilege and a pleasure providing a platform for your discussions, and we look forward to connecting with you in the future.
