Ahmed Muhammed meets with Sudanese leader Omar al-Bashir, responsible for the genocide in Darfur which claimed 400 000 lives.

He is scheduled to meet with President Obama on Monday.

I think Obama should cancel.

Nobody has a comment?

Here we have the All-American Muslim kid, lionized by liberal politicians and business people everywhere, being lionized by a genocidal Muslim leader.

And do you think our own fearless leader should meet with clock boy?

Young Muhammed was a major news item here in the US weeks ago.

In the meantime poor Muhammed is visiting a mass murderer.

This isn't a thread about Progressives or the Left.  This is a thread about this boy and his family meeting with Omar al-Bashir.  And comments about who does or does not -- or might or might not -- respond to the OP are off-topic.

Personally, I think the meeting was a bad idea, even if the family is Sudanese.

My hope is that the CIA or some government agency kept tabs on the trip and the meeting.

Ahmed is just a teenager and we don’t typically hold teenagers to the same standard that we hold adults.  I do, however, think that the president needs to issue a statement that addresses the boy’s parents and why in the world they would think it was appropriate to introduce their teenage son to someone who is under indictment for crimes against humanity.  Their decision to allow this is unconscionable and they have forfeited all credibility to speak on the ethics their son’s school and the administration/faculty that work there.

I agree. When you accept an invitation from a man under indictment for crimes against humanity, either you know for certain that he is not guilty or you have no moral compass.

The important thing to remember about American history is that it is fictional, a charcoal-sketched simplicity for the children or the easily bored. For the most part it is uninspected, unimagined, unthought, a representative of the thing and not the thing itself. It is a fine fiction...
Neil Gaiman
'American Gods'

‎"Ignorance of ignorance, then, is that self-satisfied state of unawareness in which man, knowing nothing outside the limited area of his physical senses, bumptiously declares there is nothing more to know! He who knows no life save the physical is merely ignorant; but he who declares physical life to be all-important and elevates it to the position of supreme reality--such a one is ignorant of his own ignorance."
- Manly Palmer Hall

“The Christian god can easily be pictured as virtually the same god as the many ancient gods of past civilizations. The Christian god is a three headed monster cruel vengeful and capricious. If one wishes to know more of this raging three headed beast like god one only needs to look at the caliber of people who say they serve him. They are always of two classes fools and hypocrites. ”

What is your point?

The US meets with mass murderers all the time and the United States funds and arms extremists.

The United States itself has no moral compass.

So clockboy, or perhaps just his father, is no better than they.  Hardly "Muslim of the Year material.

If anything what he did was very American, meet with a terrorist for personal gain, forget about the morality of such a meeting.
