There they go again. Racist old Israel is purposely bringing more African Jews into the country. This proves that Israel is racist because they want to make sure that all Jews even those Jews who might look different from other Jews get to keep being Jewish. That is obviously racist. Oh no its Tribal. Oh no its.... (add whatever invective you would like it is all still nonsense)
Cabinet to speed up Jewish immigration from Ethiopia By 2014 all 2,200 remaining community members will be airlifted to Israel The government Cabinet decided on Sunday to speed up the immigration of Ethiopia’s Jews. The government’s aim is to have all remaining members of the country’s Jewish community arrive in Israel by March 2014. Tens of thousands of Ethiopian Jews were brought to Israel in clandestine operations starting more than three decades ago. Thousands of descendants of Ethiopian Jews who were forced to convert to Christianity in the 19th century, known as the Falash Mura, were left behind. The Jewish Agency, with backing from the Israeli government and American Jewry, has been working to bring the remnants of the community, believed to number roughly 2,200, to Israel. . . . full article: www.timesofisrael.com/cabinet-to-speed-u... |

It is a nonsense that made perfect sense in 1948 and before, when "Jewish" meant "persecuted". But by and large, this time is over. Now, it is a political instrument to determine the demographic composition of the country - and I would say: a dysfunctional one. These Russian Jewish immigrants that later made problems, weren't they deemed "not really Jewish" by many locals? More and more, "Jewish" becomes a buzzword, IMO.

>>>>>>> Yes, "Racist" Israelis are still bringing up more Etheopians who are not being pesecuted!! I also agree this is a self-destructive policy and major problem from solving issues with native non-Jews. Russian "Jews" happened to be more radical than most Jews. Today they have enough numbers to dictate Israeli policies. So you have a fanatic foreign miniter who openly say stuff leaders should not say. The guy lives in an "Occupied land" (Technically a different country!) and still the rest of Israel have to "Tolerate" this wingnut!! I am sure short sighted ideas to bring more African Jews to "Counter" non-Jews will backfire. I always say Palestinians are no match to fight Israel. Israeli policies are the biggest "Enemy" Israel faces everyday......

BDboy and Chari There are very few places in the world today out side of Israel where Jews are not persecuted. Those places are the USA (for the most part), Canada (for the most part) Australia (for the most part) and maybe Brazil (except that no one can immigrate to Brazil so family reunification is out as is community growth except by biology). That is the list. Please note that no European country is on the "no persecution" list because there is no European country where there is not growing and often violent anti-semitism, movements to outlaw the practice of Judaism (bans on kosher slaughter, bans on circumcision, etc...) or other forms of discrimination. When the rest of the world cleans up its act maybe, just maybe, you can pretend that Israel's immigration policies are "racist" even though such fine European countries as France and Greece have the same preferences for returning countrymen and somehow you have nothing to complain about them. |

>>>>>>>> Absolutely I agree. There are movements to make Europe "Uncomfortable" for both Muslims and Jews. However that is NOT persecution but racism. As much I dislike reading about stupid laws and politicians from Europe and America, I don't think going back to Israel or city of Mecca is a "Sain" solution to the problem. There are allegations against Jews and Muslims for doing racist things as well!! People cannot just keep moving back to city states, small states to solve these issues. History of last 80 +years tells us if often makes it worse. So I always tell Mulims to work with good people of the communities (Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Mormons etc) to protest against bad policies. In this age of information, Israel cannot offort to persecute native non-Jews to make room for Jews from Russia, Africa or Asia. That will only make it worse. I mean fanatic Jews from USA also move to Israel for religious reasons. They are NOT persecuted in NJ or NYC!! You can offer more excuses for this insane policy but this course may not take Israelis to the path of peace. If you take more lands from Palestinians, some of them may not like it and resort to violence (Based on observation from last 70-80 years). Israelis got to stop this insanity and think it over. It is one thing to tour Israel and attend religious services and it is another thing to remove people from their homes, firms and businesses to set up "Jewish townships". |

BDBoy, your paradigm is not factual. You are assuming that 'nonJews' are 'native' and 'Jews' are 'Russian' and 'not native'. Oh, and the idea that the Ethiopian Jews haven't been persecuted is a flat-out falsehood: they certainly have been, and still are. Also, you seem not to comprehend the desire of Jews to live in Israel for positive reasons. Oh, and 'Russian' Jews are exactly that, Jews from Russia. NOT all Ashkenazim are 'Russian' - they are also German, Dutch, English, Latvian, Hungarian.... Just so you know. |
