No thanks. This episode has more than ever reinforced my belief that being an ideologue who thinks in terms of "sides" short circuits the thinking process and leads to the craziness we have seen with this event.
It's not a matter of choosing "sides" ..it's a matter of choosing between what will work and what will not.
As John Adams noted, ..our constitution can only govern a moral and religious people. .. meaning, that our consittution was meant to govern over a population of individuals capable of governing themselves. ... as in a population that is inherently "Good" and behave in a manner consitent with the Ten Commandments. ....and according to the founding fathers ... governed by God the Almighty.
Thus ... "Good" can do things that Policy Ideologues cannot. The Left has spent better than 50 years removing morality out of our society, opting for "moral relativism", thus removing the very basis that allows our consittution to govern the people. ... no suprise, it is falling apart.
As a consequence, things go wrong, not because of Government, but because the PEOPLE of the US no longer hold to the principles that founded the Nation and the Constitition. The Left tries to come in and "play god" ..but they simply cannot do it. Their solutions do not unite the population, but rather divide it, causing yet still more problems. The Repubicans are hardly better, and that is why I do not advocate for them either. But .. between the two, they are a better choice than the left.
The ideal of GOOD would not have a government taking money by force from earners, thus redistributing it, and proping up voting blocks for the purpose of retaining power. The ideal of GOOD, would have doctors and hospitals treating people, not based on money, but based on GOOD itself. The ideal of GOOD would have the community itself support that endeavor, sans the Federal or State Governments. The ideal of GOOD does not need the failed welfare policy of the left, or S.S., or Medicare, or any other Leftist, central planning program. The Ideal of Good has us taking care of each other ... within our families [which the left has destroyed], within our Communities [which the left has relieved of all power and made dependent on its central planning platform], and our States .. which again, the LEFT has destroyed .. and is still at it today.
I assure you .... I have not lost my mind. I embody the spirit that gave rise to this Nation. OH .. sure .. the founders could have been "apathetic" about the treatment from the Crown ... just like Obama and his misguided minions are telling us to just "accept what is and move on". But .. no, they embodied the same spirit, a spirit that resulted in them going to physical WAR against the oppression. They didn't lose their mind, nor have I.
I will not be apathetic .. I won't just "accept" what the Left Dictates by fraud and deception. They are an incapable lot, with nothing but failed ideas, leaving a trail of distruction everywhere they've been. For every problem they "think" they solve, they create several more. And as the data testifies ... they do not even solve the problem they "think" they solved.
I'll let you play that bipartisanship b.s. game. The LEFT is the enemy of what made this nation great .. and they are my enemy as well. I oppose them ... and bipartisanship be damned.
we don't just let 'em die...this is about costs of treatment...no one suggests letting anyone die. We have a Community Health Service which takes care of over `17million folks right now...arose from the migrant worker health care program...
HOW does one REDUCE the "Costs of Treatment" for indigent Persons for, say, Brain Surgery or for Treatment for extensive Burns, or Surgical Repair of a Broken Leg, or for the long Process of Recovery from a Stroke, etc. ... ??? I don't understand how that could work ...
Hospital Buildings, Surgical Instruments, Hospital Linens, Salaries for Docs, Nurses and Technicians, Secretaries and Administrators, Utility Expenses for Clinics, etc., etc., ALL cost the SAME no matter the Economic Status of the PATIENT, yes ... ???

I see the talking points of the left changing again, with those guys trying ever harder to sound "reasonable"...
but what is going to happen is hospitals closing, those who take care of the rural folks, inner city folks, nursing home folks---oh yeah, and nursing homes will be closing, too. There are already problems with durable medical equipment, the tax driving those companies out of business.
This is going to be disasterous for the health care of those who need it most. It is a big win by BIG PHARMA and BIG HEALTH CARE INSURANCE, not anyone else.
How is expanding the medicaid enrollment or requiring folks to obtain insurance(many of them subsidized) going to close rural hospitals? Since I live in a rural area that has decent service albeit no specialists I do not understand how increasing the number of people who hold health insurance is going to close facilities. I understand the not wanting to increase the deficit argument and I totally understand the argument that this act does not lower the costs of healthcare but I do not see where more insured people are going to close facilities. Would you expand and explain. Not an argument just figured you would know because you are a doctor.
and for further clarification I am not protecting Obama and blaming Bush. The entire political process is nothing more than a boondoggle and pay for play. Not only has it been going on for a long time but has achieved epic levels and will get worse with each succeeding presidency.

I don't think it's going to close hospitals. The President of our Med Center, is estatic about it all. There cost for uninsured treatment has gone up 1 million per mo., for the last two years. Obamacare shifts tax payer funds to serve this issue. And make no mistake, the peeps who can afford insurance but don't are still not going to get it. The $2500 fine is a lot less than the $8000 policy.
No .. as I've said all along. This is just another "spread the wealth"scheme by Obama. Mr Doctor of Social Justice. The "law" itself is not going to generate the revenue needed, so .. now he can use it as a campaign slogan to tax the rich so everyone can have affordable heatlhcare. Ya know ... "We all have to pay our fair share .. but of course, my voters fair share is ZERO".
I also don't see this benefitting Big Pharma??? Pure Generic Formularies don't benefit Pharma. We are on the verge of the end of Pharma Discovery .. it's simply not going to be worth the venture capital investment within about 5 years.
Now Big Insurance .... yeah .. they are going to benefit from this. More people, higher premiums, skimp on care .... = BIG PROFITS. And to boot, Government Subsidy Dollars to make sure they get their premiums.
BUT .. the bottom line ... this bill is NOT going to decrease Healthcare Cost one iota. As I've already posted with reference ... with every step towards "Managed Care" that our society has taken, Cost have increased. The larger "the chum" .. the bigger pool of Sharks will be in the water.

I ask Gail why hospitals and clinics in rural areas are going to close. I have heard all your arguments Bo and I have acknowledge those but my question to Gail, a doctor who works in rural Texas in a facility that takes care of indigent patients, why and how are clinics and hospitals going to close. again I am not looking for an argument just info.
