I remember the numbers being of paramount importance when speaking about the holocaust. |

Dos - I think your clever enough to understand the logical fallacy here. Your remark was out of place. Any analogy to the Holocaust is completely ridiculous. And not because we are Jews and they are not - but because the charge of genocide is so patently false and absurd. Their material wellbeing and quality of life are far superior to Arabs in most Arab countries - is this evidence of genocide? Of mass murder? I meet Palestinian Arabs every day. They work and shop in Jerusalem, take public transportation. I don't see any dehumanization. We all treat each other politely. We don't necessarily strike up conversations or say good morning to each other, unless we have already met, but I fail to see any dehumanization. If they felt so dehumanized, they would choose to avoid Jewish areas of the city or working for and with Jews. IDF soldiers are instructed to treat the Palestinian Arab population humanely and decently, and they usually do so. They can be disciplined for acting otherwise. Palestinians are frustrated that their national aspirations are not being realized. The conflict creates a situation where their freedoms are limited in certain areas and situations. That is hardly dehumanization. It is certainly not genocide. I do see examples of dehumanization. When terrorism is exalted, as the PA does, and children are taught to aspire to a violent death - this is dehumanization. When young Arab villagers break into a house and murder the parents and children with knives and a saw (a baby was decapitated) - they have obviously been dehumanized through a constant diet of hatred and incitement. This is the real dehumanization going on.

'Dos - I think your clever enough to understand the logical fallacy here. Your remark was out of place.' Nahum, my comment was a response to this: "And your point would be what? I think that logical fallacy is 'appeal to numbers'."

Dos, my friend, I guess I have to spell it out. Numbers in the Holocaust are significant because they point out the enormity of a crime. Here the numbers are people who toss out wild accusations without substance. When an allegation is unsubstantiated, it doesn't really matter how many people subscribe to a "big lie." It doesn't make it true. |

And of course Nahum is correct: there is nothing even vaguely resembing 'genocide' or 'apartheid' going on in Israel. The closest athing to it are those 'refugee camps' which the PA or HAMAS are in charge of - and where Palestinians are not being allowed to move out of, by the PA or HAMAS. That of course has nothing to do with Israel and so the 'people of conscience' don't want to talk about that! |
