Am I correct in thinking that there are some here who believe that Muslim nations cannot become democracies unless they have approval from Americans and Israelis?
I don't think they can become democracies at all. It doesn't matter who approves of them.
I don't think they want it. Democracy is tainted by association with the West and has not played any conspicuous role in Muslim tradition. Muslims do not regard themselves as the heirs of ancient Greece and republican Rome. The Renaissance and the Enlightenment are not part of their history. Dissatisfaction with obnoxious despots is not the same thing as a desire for democratic government.

We should be supportive as long they are helping the cause of Egypt. If Egypt prospers, it will be good news for the whole region.
