So you are saying that had 3000 German been murdered by Islamic terrorists who were sheltered by a third world train-wreck of a country, you'd advocate doing NOTHING except maybe finding some reason to blame yourself for the unprovoked attack?

***Yes, yes, yes ...

And we could have just laughed-off December 7, 1941 too, I suppose ... ("Oh, those silly Murderers ... !!!  I wonder WHAT they were thinking ... ???  Haw haw haw ... !!!")

***As irritating as it would be, the only way to really piss off terrorists is to act like they are harmless.  Terrorists thrive on the fear they can hurt you.

Indeed.  Palpatine could've had the entire Rebellion nipped in the bud if he hadn't killed way more people than was really necessary.

teilhard:  Under International Law, we have The Right of Self Defense ...

Our wars are hardly self-defense.  The reason our country is so irritable is that the 19 people responsible died, removing any possibility of us hanging them by their yahoos.  Self-defense would've been to shoot the damn planes out of the sky on 9/11 instead of sitting around apparently playing Solitaire while people were in danger.  Self-defense is NOT attacking entire countries because of a small group of assholes.

And yet it takes all the way up to Obama to off the guy.

teilhard:  What is CLEAR is that The United States Government has both the Right and The DUTY to act to protect American Citizens and American Interests ...

What we've accomplished is the Mission to Cut Our Nose to Spite Our Face.  You want to protect American interests?  How's about stop pissing off innocent people and making them into enemies?  How well has genocide helped us so far?  We are now a very lonely superpower way overstretched (thankfully, our enemies with the loudest pissing contests can't hit the broad side of a barn and actual enemies powerful enough and skillful enough to hurt us REAL bad are too embroiled with us in the global economy to risk it).

You don't go killing enemies.  You make them have nightmares of what they'll lose if they stop being your friend.

Charikleia:  Maybe it's a good idea to not just let people re-do their driving license after so-and-so many years of going unchecked, but also do a basic English semantics checkup...

As many psychotics are on the road, this is actually a good idea.  :)

If The Government of The Netherlands were either actively or passively harboring and giving Aid and Comfort to an International Terror Organization that was murdering American Citizens, I'm sure that OUR Government would ... *ahem* ... take appropriate Action ...

Nope ...

Then WHERE is the US government's initiative to reform international law in this respect, and put drone warfare on a legal basis that would be acceptable also outside the USA?

The quotes you, Fodaoson, give, are hardly an international agreement to violate national sovereignty when deemed necesary by the US president. It's merely one clan's document to justify actions against another clan...

Where is the initiative to reform international law? In my view, the USA is not only not participating in these efforts, but has been actively sabotageing them.

E.g., by passing a law in the spirit of those you quoted, making it legal for US citizens to invade the Netherlands and free prisoners from Dutch prisons.

Highly offensive!

Your government never hesitated attacking innocents when they considered them guilty by association.

Despicable! Despicable also that you seem to perfectly approve of this!

I guess you're aware of the highly offensive US law I am talking about?

That's a neat example of why even some of us allies legitimately hate you.

Your take on the situation is extemely naive and simple minded. That is why you reduce the answers to keep killing women and children in several countreis for 10 years or do NOTHING.

You have any idea or care why they didn't take down some Brazilian buildings  instead of the Twin Towers? I guess you think it is because they "hate our freedoms".

Too bad.  By your rational, we should have never made war on Germany or Japan in 1941, because that would mean we were declaring the German and Japanese people were "guilty by association."

The Taliban Government, as was Hitler's Germany and Tojo's Japan, was GUILTY BY COMMISSION.  The Taliban Government ACTIVELY PROTECTED al-Qaida.

Now had it been GERMANY or NETHERLANDS instead of the USA, you'd be making excuses, saying that somewhere in the past you deserved to have 3000 people murdered and would expect the UN or some other useless international organization to give just for you?

Again, if YOU won't protect your own people, nobody else will do it for you.

I don't much care WHY they did it, arielg.  The fact remains they still killed 3000 INNOCENT AMERICANS.  That's ALL the reason needed to turn the whole stinking country into a parking lot and leave the Afghan people to pick up the pieces.  That we didn't do so and instead tried to rebuild their trainwreck of a country was OUR mistake

***The al Qaida Terrorists and Affiliates have ALSO attacked and murdered innocent Persons in East Africa, Indonesia, Spain, England, Jordan, Iraq, India, Afghanistan, and in other Places ...

If the Response of Civilized Countries was simply amused Passivity, I'm sure they would eventually get around around to attacking Brazil and Burkina Faso, too ...
