You can not always get what you want. But, basic fairness should be something one can expect, especially from those who profess to value fairness. That is why anyone and everyone  should be disappointed with the European press and with the European left.

Fairness and the true desire for it is a rare commodity.  There are few here who won't exploit a one-sided news article, a video, or a website that makes the folks they don't like look bad whenever the opportunity arises, and justify it, too boot.

In the days before political correctness in the original Hollywood version of the Knute Rockne story, with Ronald Reagan playing the Gipper, there was an often repeated joke. It went something like this. Question: What's the only thing dumber than a dumb Norwegian?   Answer: Two smart Swedes.

When I read the OP I couldn't help but recall old celluloid Knute and his joke about Norwegians. I suppose that the only difference is that then it was a joke and now we have proof.

I've yet to see this so-called polls that is upsetting everybody.  It has yet to be linked or otherwised referenced.

Again, what exactly was being polled?  How did the poll questions read?  Was it a scientific poll and what was the sampling?  For all we know it could have been a poll taken at the Annual Swedish and Norweigan Nazi Convention, that only polled attendees, and therefore does not represent the who;le of the population.

I am not at all surprised, miraj, that you never got a response to your inquiries.  This by the way is THIS particular poster's m.o...

Nahum, why can't it be that the realtionship is opinion based on fact?

Unfortunately it is not in Germany and Norway alone. I watched our Datline on soccer violence in Poland and then in Ukraine. It was a shocking display of anti-jewish hatred.

Where did those seeds of hatred come from?

Information is shared in many ways and people are intelligent enough to make up their own mind and have an opinion re what is and what is not. In many EU countries this freedom has been supressed.

Suppresing freedom of thought and speech is taking away man's humanity. It will burst out eventually and in not the best way.

If I were a Jew living in any of these European countries, I'd ask as did Oprah on her show, why do they hate us?

DOS, why do YOU think they hate Jews?  Why do you think Jews have been persecuted for the last few thousand years?  You can't tell me that a Polish Jew has anything at all to do with Israel.  You can't explain the issue to be Israel to explain the persecution before 1948 and the attach on Jews worldwide who having absolutely nothing to do with Israel.

Speaking of Europeans and hypocrisy (can one do one without the other when it comes to Middle East discussions?)

Gurfinkiel - France Wants Israel to Recognize ‘Green Line’ — Yet France Does Not

The French government insists Israel must withdraw to the 1949-1967 ceasefire line in the West Bank (the “Green Line”) in order to achieve peace with the Palestinians. France holds it to be an “international border” and deems any Israeli presence beyond it to be an illegal settlement built on foreign soil. Even in Jerusalem, where the Green Line – back then an eerie, barbed wire no-man’s land — cut off one half of the city from the other and deprived Israelis and Jews from any access to the holiest of all Jewish holy places: the Western Wall.

The proper Israeli answer to France should be: We dare you.

It’s a matter of logic, indeed. If the Green Line is an international border, everything located west of it in pre-1967 Israel is indisputably Israeli. This is the case, in particular, of the Kiryah, the hill where the Israeli parliament and government are located. As a consequence, France should acknowledge West Jerusalem as the rightful capital of Israel and transfer without delay its embassy from Tel Aviv to there.

The fact is, however, that the French are not as logical as they claim to be, and that while regarding East Jerusalem as part of some half-born “state of Palestine,” they do not see West Jerusalem as part of Israel, either.
. . .
True enough, anti-Israel biases and nonsenses are common staple in most diplomatic services in the world, including the State Department. But in many countries and especially in America, diplomats are still accountable to elected governments, who may take a more sober view of the Near East. In France, governments just do what they are told to do by the diplomats.

The poll was conducted by Forsa for Stern Magazine issue released May 23.  Forsa conducts telephone surveys based on a sampling of at least 1000 people, according to Wiki.

Haven't been able to find out the actual questions yet.

One seems to be something along the lines of:  Do you agree or disagree that Israel pursues its interests without consideration for other nations?  Another: Do you agree or disagree that Germany owed a special obligation to the Israel due to the Holocaust?  And: Do you agree or disagree that Israel has a right to exist?  And: Should Germany recognize Pälestine?

This is based on news articles (numerous) concerning the results.  I can get Stern mag online, but can't read German.

Norwegian student in Oslo burns Jewish pupil

By BENJAMIN WEINTHAL, JERUSALEM POST CORRESPONDENT

06/13/2012 16:15

Norwegian places red-hot coin on student's neck; NGO: Silence of school, police, gov't reminiscent of Nazi-collaborating Norway.

A schoolboy burned a Jewish pupil with a red-hot coin at an Oslo secondary school on Monday, triggering the Simon Wiesenthal Center to issue a strongly-worded letter to Norwegian Justice Minister Grete Faremo.

According to the letter, "this child has been the subject of anti-Semitic bullying and violence for the past two years, reportedly, because his father is Israeli." In addition, the letter noted that "despite the mother's report of assaults on her son to NRK radio evening news in 2010, there has been no reaction by the school, the police or governmental authorities."

. . .

According to European reports, Norway’s school system has permitted an increasingly hostile climate for Jewish pupils. The Austrian paper Die Presse wrote in 2010 that "statements sharply critical of Israel" by Kristin Halvorsen, education minister of the Norwegian Socialist Left Party, have been "legitimizing attacks" against Jews. Critics say Jewish students have been subject to assaults in Norway's schools, and teachers have simply looked the other way

LOL!  And can anyone think of a nation known for its consideration of other nations above its own interests????   Is that truly such a desireable thing????
