And I am heartily in favor of higher insurance premiums for anybody who voluntarily allows the products of combustion to enter their lungs. |

It's an assinine 'observation', especially considering the nonsense behind it.

Cigarettes ARE "VERY bad". Some of the best literature and some of the best music and some of the best art ever created was thanks to marijuana. I smoke it (well, vaporize it) regularly along with my husband, and together we wrote a business bestseller - on communication, no less. Those who have not tried it do not know whereof they speak. Stop spreading ignorance. |

Like I said, smoking marijuana is SOOO 1990s. Vaporizers do a much better job and produce no smoke. DO catch up. It depends why you need that "job" at all. A much better job is not put any unnecessary crap in your body. And a better question is to ask why do you need to artificially change your perception of reality? What is the point? Halucinogenics have being used since time immemorial as a sacred guide to explore different states of consciousness that are not available to the mind in its normal state. That is how some people started using them in the US in the 60s. Then, it's use started gradually coming down to lower levels of intellect, intent on seeking cheap thrills and entertainment to get away from reality. Totally the opposite. Which is what most people use it for today. Sacred or profane depends on the intentions of the user. |

Why do cheap thrills and entertainment have such a bad reputation? Reality is over-rated. It's indispensible in the morning, but by four in the afternoon I've had enough of it. Don't forget, American politics is part of reality, and it's depressing as hell.

I think the Right should get behind this. The totalitarian corporate-feudalist state they want to erect will be a lot easier to bear and a lot less likely to erupt in social unrest if we were all high.

"Need"??? Who said anything at all about "need"? We all "need" only food, water and air (and, some would argue, love). The only semi-'need' is to eliminate the carcinogens caused in the smoking of the product. Call me funny, but occasionally,I feel the 'need' to go to an art gallery too. So sue me.
See above re: "need[s]". The point is to experience more than the dull ordinary quotidien trials tribulations of day-to-day living. Sorta like what we get when we hear good music or see great art. If you really have to ask "What's the point?", then you surely have no appreciation ("need"?) for good music, art, literature, food, etc., that was produced under the influence.
Hmm, first it's 'what need have we'; now it's "sacred". DO make up your mind. (Not that pot is a hallucinogen to begin with.)
Is this supposed to be a history lesson or something?

And, it's not like people use/abuse alcohol to escape from reality or anything, eh? |
