And in the ever popular - What? there is no anti-Semitism in the Arab middle east and Europeans are open to all ideas and respect freedom of speech department comes . . .

WTF?…Virgin Megastore Qatar sells ‘Mein Kampf’, and Virgin France blocks Daniel Pipes’s ‘Facing radical Islam’
Adolf Hitler’s manifesto was Promoted in « the recommended section » in Qatar branch of Virgin, because as many people know it, ‘Mein Kampf’ is a best seller in the arab world.

Fine.

The book was quickly removed from the « recommended section » after twitter users published a picture (above) showing Mein Kempf at the entrance of the Megastore, and the image went viral.

Fine.

What people don’t know because there is no existing picture, is that at about the same time, Paris Virgin Megastore Champs Elysee hid the new French best seller « Facing radical islam » (Face à l’islam radical WTF?...Virgin Megastore Qatar sells ‘Mein Kampf’, and Virgin France blocks Daniel Pipess Facing radical Islam). This book was written in French by the American specialist on Islam, Daniel Pipes and French Professor Guy Milliere.

Both books should be removed.

Daniel Pipes is a anti-Islam bigot and these @-holes should not be promoted. I have listened to few of his speeches and his emphasis is on de-humanize Muslims. Like Robert Spencer, Daniel spends most of his days by spreading fear about Muslims in America and rest of the western world.

Daniel Pipe's book is good for toilet paper.  Do they use toilet paper in France?

This sorry guy devoted his life to mislead western nations about Islam. After listening to him, I have no doubt about his "Mission".

BD, have you noticed that Pipe's has been a bit schitzoid re Islam lately?  He's actually had some good things to say about Muslims.  It's been shocking!  He must be taking meds now.  I hope he gets better soon.

In researching this topic it seem that the Qatar Branch of Virgin has removed Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' from recommended reading shelf.  This was in December 2011 after someone made a tweet on twitter about same.

"Recently, one of the region's Virgin Megastores included in its book section the Arabic translation of Mein Kampf, by Adolf Hitler, a title available worldwide in major bookstores and online," a statement said.

"For one day, the book was included in the recommended section. The recommended tag was not an endorsement of the book's author or its content.

"In response to a customer, we removed the title from the display."

Only a few countries – including Germany and Austria – restrict sales of the book, Adolf Hitler's manifesto written while in jail in the 1920s. Its bursts of popularity in the Middle East reflect both the greater acceptability of overt anti-semitism and more complex issues resulting from widespread ignorance and denial of the Holocaust, a taboo topic in many Arab countries' classrooms.

Virgin Megastores no longer belongs to Richard Branson's Virgin Group after being sold off and broken up. Its Middle East arm belongs to a retail holding group based in Beirut.
