It seems to me that the stars may finally be aligning for an actual settlement. Israel has a broad based coalition which should allow it to make an offer most people can live with, even if they don't like it much. Abbas and the PA may finally have become somewhat reasonable in their expectations for what they can get and may be willing to accept an agreement which does not require the destruction of the State of Israel.
Or, I could just be overly optimistic.

Reuters) - Prime Minister Salam Fayyad said on Tuesday the Palestinians may have "lost the argument" on the international stage for an independent state but cautioned that continued Israeli occupation was unsustainable.

"I think we are losing the argument, if we have not already lost the argument. But that doesn't make our position wrong," said the former World Bank economist, a political independent who has had strong support amongst Western powers.
