Rather than engaging in (often pointless) back and forths with people who will never change their mind, I thought I'd redirect my energies into something more productive and useful.

Will you make mention of the Hilary Rosen / Ann Romney fiasco? |

Well, since the discussion concerns women and the US political scene, what is your opinion of this so called fiasco?

In a nutshell? Rosen exposed one of the underlying truths behind 2nd-Wave Feminism: its total contempt for "traditional" families. You see, women all over the nation frequently make the decision to stay at home with their children for one reason or another. In some instances, it's a nod to tradition. In others, the woman wants to be there for her kids. Then you have situations wherein the husband is gone frequently (such as if he's in the service) and so the wife fears nobody being there for the kids. But regardless, most of these women make the decision of their own free will. So for someone like Rosen to just come out and say that these women don't count because they don't hold a day job means she's effectively dismissing any woman who chooses to put their family ahead of their career. What's more, she's also dismissing those women who do work but who would prefer to stay at home given the right conditions. Put that together, and Rosen just basically called a rather large percentage of the women of America "inferior". Oops. Hence 3rd-Wave Feminism: "Give women the choice in what they want to do, and let them actually do so provided that they're not hurting themselves or anyone else." |

I understand what you are saying but I believe you are intentionally distorting what was said. Rosen did not say 'these women', she only identified one woman in particular, Mrs. Romney. Mrs. Romney is not anything close to the 'traditional sense' that you describe. She had access to resources that the vast majority of women could only ever dream about. This allowed her choice to be incredibly easy. Most women will never have the choice that Mrs. Romney enjoyed, they will be forced to work because of various circumstances.

You should check out the "Events" page, Bodean, and look through some of the conference presentation abstracts. It's full of interesting scholarship by international scholars. You also might find the link to The European Consortium for Political Research of interest as well.

Why thank you very much :) And feel free to check in whenever. I try to update three times a day (morning, lunch time and evenings). Eventually hope to get a page devoted to scholarly research on the topics, links to working papers, and books (and reviews) in addition to media coverage.

I find Boris Johnson, mayor of London, to use a Texas term, a "hoot." He's an active cyclist; I couldn't imagine a Wingo like him existing in the Romney-cookie-cutter, Borg model that predominates on the Right (since cycling is considered an expression of godless, liberal socialism and all cyclists have "Forward!" on the insides of their cycling helmets). -- Any news on Angela Merkel and the P.M. changes in the Eurozone and German fiscal discipline not being able to dictate to Greece, as before on your blog?

It means that I consider my money to belong to God and I see myself as one of the hungry people who needs to get fed with God’s money. If I really have put all my trust in Jesus Christ as savior and Lord, then nothing I have is really my own anymore." |

I went to the sight. It's full of exactly what I thought it would be. ... leftists propaganda. There was a few articles on it that were not as leftists .. mainly just reporting .. but for the most part, it is a celebration of the Left, Socialism, etc. I mean ... how am I to take a site seriously that espouses the position of the "GOP's War on Women"?? There is no war on women from the GOP camp. That is a pure fabrication of the Left, .. it is what the Left is good at ... lies and deceit. I didn't waste too much time on the site, but I seriously doubt that it has much of anything favorable to the women's issues that do not fall in the "left of center" camp issues. I will be really suprised if the site has "conservative" women flocking to it.
